Decadence Question Empty Decadence Question

Post by Keliha Greyson Tue Mar 31, 2015 7:29 pm

It says eating too much and throwing away meals raises it.  It also says decreases the chance of throwing up when overeating-The question I have is what are the effects of throwing up?

I have a bit of decadence from wine drinking, but I may look at my budget and try to begin raising it more with meals, but am curious about the effects of overeating and the skill gain of throwing meals out.

Post by Axel Ackland Tue Mar 31, 2015 8:16 pm

Its currently the only way to gain speed.  (Except for recently added mushrooms if you found any)

When you over-eat and throw up you gain .01 speed, .01 decadence, and lose 3 mood.  The normal effects of the meal are lost.  You can keep over-eating until you actually are able to eat the meal.

When you over-eat and eat the meal, you gained the normal effects of the meal, as well as .02 decadence (might be multiplied by complexity of meal).  You also gain mood as normal.

Can confirm - throwing up gives ingredients * 0,01 (90% sure affected by the skill curve)

To not start another topic, I just add one more question about Decadence here.

It's said in Help files:
"Having a high Decadence might have some disadvantages!"

What are these disadvantages?

none yet.  Cowardice didn't have negatives for a long time, and now it does have some major drawbacks.

The Decadence & Cowardice Skills are indeed skills that might also have some disadvantages. Both Skills increase by living an "un-graily-life" in the Realm.
The Decadence Skill might -in the future- lock some actions but as it is now, there are no disadvantages yet.

How strong impact could these disadvantages have in future? Won't it be totally game-changing for those who already have high Decadence?

I don't think it will be a game-changing disadvantage. If such things happen, usually Seekers have the chance to adjust before the changes. If Decadence would become game-changing then you will be warned and offered a possibility to reduce your Decadence before the update is added.

Like cowardice, is there any way to get rid of decadence?

No, not yet. Except maybe for not eating during the day. Then there's a chance decadence (as one of the personal skills) lowers.

Wait does that mean there is a way to lower Cowardice permanently now?  Besides using grail tokens anyway.

There always was, but I hardly call it a "way". It's just that when you don't eat, you lose some of a randomly picked personal skill. There's a chance that this is the Decadence Skill.
You only get Decadence in exchange for something, it's the price you pay.

I have a bit of decadence from wine drinking, but I may look at my budget and try to begin raising it more with meals, but am curious about the effects of overeating and the skill gain of throwing meals out.
The effects have been answered by others, but I will add ratio for throwing up vs manage to eat the extra meal and become Plump (instead of Fed).

I ate 100  simple meals during the course of a few months when I had the status Fed. I managed to get .68 more speed and 1.00 decadence. I got 0.01 speed and 0.01 decadence every time I threw up, and 0.02 other skill and 0.02 decadence when I managed to eat the meal (status then changed from Fat to Plump. )

Total meals and skill gain:

68 meals: threw up, got speed and decandence
16 meals: ate it, and got 0.02 other skill (constitution mostly) and 0.02 decandence.

68 * 0.01 decadence + 16*0.02 decadence = 1.00 decandence.

Total meals to get 1 decadence skill: 68+16 = 84 meals.
Total meals to get 1 speed skill: 1/0.68 = 147 meals

I also got .32 constitution skill on the way.

Cowardice is listed as a daily skill and not a personal skill.  I'm under the impression it cannot be lowered from not eating.  Which is fine cause it wouldn't make sense.  What I'm asking is if there is a way we can lower Cowardice permanently without grail tokens.  You seemed to imply that earlier.  And of course I'm also asking what that way is ^^

As for decadence, Ive always remembered that every day you don't eat you'll lose skill on your decadence skill & one random personal skill.  I could be wrong Razz

Oh I'm sorry, I answered for the wrong skill.
As far I remember there are currently no other ways to lower your Cowardice Skill.
You don't lose decadence & another random skill. It's only one random skill.

So... With the upcoming decadence update, adding a mood loss disadvantage to the "skill", I'm wondering if there are any plans to fully implement mushrooms in the near future? Currently, overeating is the main way for us to raise our speed skill, but since the decadence we gain along with it is changing from something irrelevant into something disadvantageous, it would be great if we could soon finally star raising our speed the normal way.

Is there a way to lower decadence if you do not have over 25%?

Seems needed

Not yet, however we are busy with a repeatable quest that will lower the decadence as reward.

Is this quest to lower decadence in the game yet? Or is there any other way to lower decadence yet?

Embarassed No, this quest hasn't been added still.
Living a sober life (eating bread) lowers your decadence with 0.02 points.
