Chicken in the quest

What happens if the chicken in the quest dies before you can get the butcher tool done??

A good question! There might be some issues with this still. Most likely if the chicken dies, the player should buy a new one and act like nothing happens...but that might not be clarified in the quest itself.

If the Chicken somehow dies, you are advised to buy another Chicken from the town you live in. If the town wouldn't have any chickens for sale, you are advised to take contact with the Master of the Ranch.
Further on in the Quest, you basically can skip killing the chicken, as long you make a butcher knife & give Porkard a Poultry afterwards.
As far I could see, there is not really a time during the quest where the player really can get stuck.

Well, that's good news. My chicken is now 32 days old and I think I need at least 3 more days to finish my knife.

I outsourced the chicken killing and bought a new one. The quest is still active :-) Since I used the iron bars on other things, I hope the quest will go on indefinitely (i.e. until I have a butcher knife)..

Euh, I think your chicken might die still from starvation or old age. But then, you can buy a new chicken again.
