Town Buying Prices Open Discussion
Hi all,
Our market is getting stronger, but I think it could grow much faster with some simple understandings.
We have some price gouging and profiteering going on, which is GOOD; it means that cash is flowing and the town is making revenue. This is good for all of us because the town uses this revenue to upgrade our fields which increases everyone's revenue.
But the town seems to be having some trouble lately being able to purchase decent priced goods.
Ingredients and bread-making materials aside, we would like some input on what you think are fair prices to pay/sell for' and if your willing perhaps share some of your market experience here.
Are you a market hawk, buying low priced goods only? Are you getting a lot of good deals, or too few?
Are you an investor/warehouser, buying stockpiles and then relisting for profit? It's always risky to do, but can be proftiable!
Are you a supplier? What do you supply?
Are you having trouble buying what you need as well? Are you having trouble selling?
Do you consider yourself self sufficient, rarely using the market, if at all?
To avoid a hyper-inflation after the change to market mechanics, I basically shut down the town purchases. I did not want the town to become a monopoly, or too big a player and discourage others. And we've grown, but slowly.
So what do you guys think? Would a list of buying prices even be helpful?
Thanks all!

Re: Town Buying Prices Open Discussion
I rarely use the market because of the market gouging tbh. I run self suffiently and try and keep my market prices at cost plus .005 to 1 bronze stat wage, so atleast our newbs can afford things like cheap knives and ploughs.

I'd say a town buy list probably won't be that great, unless you plan to use profiteering to make income... which will be hard to do with our market. I'd suggest the town just buys whenever they need something. It might be a good idea to make a recommended price list, however, to help newer players price their goods where they're going to sell. I wouldn't mind seeing a subsidy price list, which would probably be only considerably low prices.
For the most part, I think there's very little market gouging. We may think its gouging, when really we're just assuming the normal price for something was what the town had it at before, which determined its own prices and, with no competition, did not run off of supply and demand. There was also a general consensus that the average wage is .5 bronze per stamina which is completely arbitrary and only really accomplished keeping prices lower, while others who didn't attempt to only make .5 bronze per stamina were able to take advantage of those that did.

Very good points Axel, and I agree.
Perhaps a recommended list like you say is fine. I know a list would help me price goods.
The town does have some good potential to stockpile some things, but we are far from over-production here so it is probably best not to meddle too much right now. Maybe if our markets start to over-produce we can revisit that idea.
Was hoping to get more feedback, but it is what it is. I'll leave this up, maybe others will post their views on it.
