1.1 The Most Efficient Use of Stamina - By Anto Capone - Fishing Skill: 73.280
Averaging 22 fish per day, for about 5.9 stamina per fish. I've been using all my stamina at once now, there no longer seems to be any major benefit to using 5-10 stamina at a time. So it is a lot better now not having to log in every 40 mins to maximize benefit.
Although i am getting about 30% less fish total now than before the change, it still seems highly profitable.
Note: it is still slightly more profitable to use 10 stamina at a time and log in every 40 mins, but not so drastic of a difference as it was. Also, factoring in that durability loss is 10X when using 10 stamina, choices must be made.
The reason it slightly more profitable is because you get more chances at random bonuses using 10 stamina each time. This is hard to explain, so I will use an example.
You have 100 stamina to fish.
A: Using all 100 at once will give you 20 motivation at least, but you will only get one shot for a bonus motivation. So, if you are lucky and my notes are right; my hypothetical conclusion leads me to believe that spending 100 stamina will give you 20 motivation (for max 20 fishes), and rarely you will get an extra 1 for 21 motivation and a chance at an extra fish. You lose 10 durability on your fishing pole.
B: Whereas using 10 stamina each time will give you 2 motivation each time at least, and each time you use 10 you have a small chance of getting a bonus motivation to make it 3 total shots at fishes. So, technically you could get up to 30 motivation spending your stamina in 10 spots; but is probably rather near mathematically impossible. However, using this method will use up 100 durability on your fishing pole.
So, I conclude that method A is more efficient, and definitely more player friendly.
Plus you get to have nice days like these:
5.5 stamina per fish that day..
Crunching all my data, I can sell all these fish I got for 20 bronze each and make a tidy profit while supplying cheap food. Cheaper than bread, but more expensive than eggs I suppose. Over 3 bronze per stamina earned more than covers tool and follower expense along with cost of bread to eat.
Its definitely not as profitable as mining, or wood cutting when very skilled; but it is a viable alternative.

2. COSTS, MEALS AND MARKET SALES:
2.1. How to work out the cost of a single fish:
(using the lowest town wage of half a bronze per stamina, and a cheap fishing rod with a durability of 200 bought for 2.50 Silver, in this example.)
1. Cost of follower: 60 bronze
2. Cost of stamina used total: 50 bronze (example = 100 stamina x 0.5 bronze = 50 bronze)
3. Cost of the durability of the fishing rod (10 pts per attempt): 1.25 silver (the answer in 3.c)
--3.a Amount of durability used in total: 100 pts
--3.b To get the cost per point of durability: 2.50/200 = .0125 S
--3.c Answer to 3.b x answer to 3.a: 1.25 S
4. Cost of fishing postion:
5. Final sum (cost of a single fish): Add totals of steps 1 to 4 together, then divide by the total amount of fish you have gained.
[Note:
If we use all 100 stamina in a single attempt, then 3. Cost of the durability of the fishing rod : .125 Silver (12.5 Bronze) ]
Durability of fishing rod: Stamina x 3 (The amount a Seeker tries to catch a fish multiplied by 3)
*********************************
2.2 Making and selling a fish meal:
Making: See meals guide on how to make meals.
Selling: (using basic meals and skill as an example & a half a bronze as the lowest town wage.)
1. Do 1 to 5 steps in the above example.
2. Stamina: 8 stamina x .5 = 4 bronze.
3. Add steps 1 to 2, in this example, together to get the cost of your meal.
Stamina use for each meal as you skill improves: to be added.
If your cooking skill is below 29.99% = 8 stamina (you can also use 1 fish successfully)
If your cooking skill is above 30% = 7 stamina (you can also use 2 fish successfully)
If your cooking skill is above ** = 6 stamina (you can also use 3 fish successfully)
If your cooking skill is above ** = 5 stamina (you can also use 4 fish successfully)
If your cooking skill is above ** = 4 stamina (you can also use 5 fish successfully)

1. HOW TO FISH:
- You need a fishing rod, the higher the level of the fishing rod the more durable it is, and the more uses you get out of it.
- You can only fish in the water outside of the town (see world map for details). Once in the water, click on the boat on the right and then begin fishing.
- You fish in 40 minute increments, you can chose to spend a minimum from 5 stamina, 10 stamina, 15 stamina etc, or you can spend your full stamina.
- It costs you x 3 of your stamina in durability loss for your fishing rod.
Chances vary from 20% chance without any skills to 110% when you maxed out all the skills used to fish.

Re: Fishing Guide.
NOTES:
Minimum stamina can be used fishing = 5. Each 5 stamina used seems to guarantee at least 1 motivation point, which is needed to catch 1 fish. So, 50 stamina should equal 10 motivation points, at least (possibility to catch 10 fish).
1 motivation point = 1 chance to catch 1 fish.
XP gain is in relation to amount of fish caught:
vs.
Fishing: 68.700 +20= Chance to catch a fish: 82%(not sure how this figure is calculated)
There is a fair amount of luck involved. I have gotten 4 fish using 5 stamina; and 4 fish from using 20 stamina. The most amount of stamina I used so far is 50, and I have done 5 or 10 stamina many times. I think I might try a whole block of stamina (my daily max).
I've been keeping data on all my attempts, but I am reluctant to post all of it.

Hmm, looking over my data, it seems XP gained is in relation to motivation gained. seems across the board.
motivation * .02 = XP gain
motivation * .02 = XP gain
Re: Fishing Guide.
Airy wrote:Luck = cheese generated luck? Or just random chance kind of luck?
both, i guess.
5 stamina = 1+ motivation = 1+ tries to catch a fish
chance to catch a fish each try = not sure how number is calculated.
My fishing skill is 68.840 +20 from follower
Total 88.84
My luck is 6.380...
My chance to catch a fish is 82%...
You would think luck would add to chance to catch a fish, not subtract tho; so I have no idea...
Re: Fishing Guide.
Luck doesn't substract!
But your fishing skill doesn't count for 100% neither thats why.

Re: Fishing Guide.
Wow...between the two of us, I'd say that Spero will have a lot of fish, ^^
It also might encourage a little more affordable meal and good prices...which cannot hurt...like at all.

Re: Fishing Guide.
The durability for fishing has been changed!
Instead of the old 10 points subtracted no matter the amount of stamina, we now take in account the amount a Seeker tries to catch a fish and multiply that with 3 (this is more or less equal with the durability loss of other items).
The tries a Seeker catches a fish depends on the stamina used (1 try for each 5 stamina) + the used potions (3 tries for each quality level the potion has).
If you have lost less durability then this formula, then your Decay Skill has saved you some durability points
