Taking Lost Pet Quest in another town

This is probably just a typo, but I accepted the Lost Pet quest in the Grail Monastery. The poster for the quest indicated that I was required to return the pet to the GM, but once I took the quest, the journal and other quest text pointed me back to Sarmiz.
It may be there is a variable that needs tweaking on the poster you see prior to accepting the quest.
