Critical strike combat skill

How does this work?

Does it add a chance to double the base damage?

Or does it add a chance to double the (base damage + melee skill damage, + 2-h weapon damage + weakness damage + equipment damage bonus) x 2 ?


This makes a HUGE difference whether to pick Critical Strike or not. (Tbh: If it only adds to base damage, it is basically worthless.)

An excellent question I'd like to see an answer to, as someone going for a bit of a "crit monkey" combat build.
