Ranch animal - Cow
At the Town Ranch you can choose to have up to 3 ranch animals at a time. Cows are one of them.
Others are | Chicken | Cow | Horse | Pig | Sheep |
The price is determined by the Town Council
Food: No special feed required
Lifetime: 70 days
Produce by milking every 3 days: 4 milk per milking (23 days total = 92 milk per cow)
Produce by slaughtering: 8 meat and 3 to 4 leather squares (none of your skills improve this).
You need: A butcher's knife to slaughter
Special:
1. Milking and feeding increases your cow attitude.
2. Milking your cow requires 20 stamina. (less as the Cow attitude skill increases).
3. The consumption of milk increases your physical resistance skill. It does not decrease your hunger points.
4. Milk is considered a 'drink' so you can have maximum 5 milk in a day.
5. Milk also is used in cheese production (which can be turned into meals to increase your luck skill).
6. Eating meat (after it's cooked) increases Strength Skill
7. Leather squares are used to create items from the Tailor's workshop
8. Slaughtering cow takes 25 stamina (Less as Cow attitude skill increases)
9. Slaughtering damages your knife with half of the stamina used for Slaughter, rounded up.
10. You can also hire someone else to milk or slaughter your cow.
How to work out prices for the goods produced from the cow:
A) COST OF EACH ITEM WITH EQUAL VALUE:
1. Cost of each item produced from the cow: Cost per milk (considering there are 103 items produced by the cow: 92 milk, 8 meat and 3 or 4 hides): add 1a to 1d together)/103(or 104) items =
1a. Cost of cow:
1.b Stamina used milking your cow (20 stamina x 23 milking devided by the amount of milk gained per cow 92: (20 x 23): 460 stamina x .005 bronze =
1c. cost of stamina to slaughter = **stamina x .5 bronze =
1d. Cost of knife durability = cost of knife/ max durability points * Durability spent =
B) ALTERNATIVE WORKING OUT COSTS FOR EACH TYPE OF ITEM:
1. Milk:
1.a Cost of cow (for only Milk) : *** bronze/103 (or 104) * 92.
1.b Cost of stamina for each milk: 20 stamina x 23 milkings/92 milk (20 x 23/92 = 5 stamina) = 5 stamina x .5 bronze. (unless it costs you less stamina per milking.)
2. Meat and Hides:
2.a Cost of cow (for only Meat & hides): *** bronze/103 (or 104) * 11 (or 12).
2b. cost of stamina to slaughter = **stamina x .5 bronze =
2c. Cost of knife durability = cost of knife/max durability points * Durability spent =

No special feed required.
Not sure if they can be fed with corn or wheat and what effect that would have though.

Not sure what kind of cows you have that live 75 days. I have 3 cows and all can be 70 days max. Thanks for pointing out that I need to update this.

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
More info:
From Aro:
Plus you get 8 meat from slaughtering your cow. Had 3 cows now, got the same amount of meat each time. And you still get to milk every 3 days 23 days total = 92 milk per cow, cows still last 70 days.

When slaughtering a sheep you will receive 2 Leather Squares.
When slaughtering a cow you will receive 3 or 4 Leather Squares.
None of your skills improves this.

This book has been updated with working out prices for cow produced items. The wage is only a recommendation, you can put in any kind of wage you like.

Nobody has caught this? Milk increases Physical Resistance, not Intellect. That is raised by eating fish.

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
0,05 bronze per stamina?,this is a slave wage!
i'm guessing you meant 0,5?
also:can someone post the calculations for slaughtering and milking?
like as in stamina cost reduction for x skill?

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
town wages customarily are .05 bronze per stamina. I know that I only charge .1 bronze per stamina. Its just a base from the lowest wage one can work for, thats all.

0,1 is a horrible wage!
0,25 is good for crafting
but 0,5 is a must for field units in my opinions

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
If I remember right the basic costs for milking and slaughtering a cow are 20 and 25 stamina respectively. It currently costs me 16 and 21 stamina to do those tasks and my current skill is about 44 in cow attitude. I assume that the stamina requirement for milking and slaughtering drops by 1 unit for every 10 skill levels you have. But, I'm definitely not sure about it, if others could confirm it, that would work.
Field work in Spero generally pays 25-30 bronze per unit. For animals we pay .5 bronze per stamina, which is a little low IMO, but that's debatable since people gain skill and can do more work with less stamina.

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
Yes, animals in Spero, to breed, pay .5 bronze per stamina.
With 60% skill, can easily make 2 silver a day just breeding animals.

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
i noticed that wages have been going down and down
i even saw a job for a field for 10 bronze
i find this a cause for concern

Are you sure it is .005 bronze per Stamina and not 0.5 bronze??Niveus wrote:

As in Spero,
> Town Jobs Give 0.5 Bronze per Stamina
> Healing Gives 0.6 per heal
> Even Working for Grail Lords give 0.5 bronze per stamina...!!
Mistakes :
1d. Cost of knife durability = (cost of knife / total durability points)* Durability spent =
B) ALTERNATIVE WORKING OUT COSTS FOR EACH TYPE OF ITEM:
0.a : Cost per Item = Cost of Cow / 103 (or 104) items
1. Milk:
1.a Cost of 92 milk : 0.a * 92
1.b Cost of stamina for each milk: 20 stamina x 23 milkings/92 milk (20 x 23/92 = 5 stamina) = 5 stamina x .5 bronze. (unless it costs you less stamina per milking.)
[So Total Stamina Costs for milk : 5* 0.5 *92 bronze]
2. Meat and Hides:
2.a Cost of 11 (or 12) Meat/Hides : 0.a * 11 (or 12) items.
2b. cost of stamina to slaughter = **stamina x .5 bronze =
2c. Cost of knife durability = (cost of knife/ total durability points)* Durability spent =

1d I wrote like it was, because I wanted everyone to understand it, some people actually dont understand what / means. Same with 1.a.
HMMM these arent mistakes their just some editing. which will now make all the other guides read wrong if you dont go ahead and change them all the same way, particuarly if you change the numbers .005. Just change it to .005 silver for those of us who are maths-dumb so we can understand it, and please if you wanted to add in your edits, ie cost of items = cow/ etc, just put it in brackets. Thanks.

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
In no way is the guide correct in saying .005 bronze per unit of stamina is a fair labor charge. Why change the standard to silver? In the game, bronze is the basic unit of currency, for example, when the town creates a workorder for a cow to be bread you enter the amount in bronze, in Spero's case 250 bronze (2.5 silver) for 500 units of labor, so .5 bronze per unit.
I think the forumals are fine as they are, could be cleaned up though, examples would be nice but aren't necessary.

Re: Ranch animal - Cow
Labour charge is just using the lowest wage you can work for in town, its basically just an example. Most of the time I charge 1 bronze per stamina for my goods.
Yup, an example works JP
And as with the standards, dont mind either way, just needs to be consistent, which I think our JP is gunna make sure happens. ^^
