Halloween 2k17 armament & prepping
The event is nearing its kick off, and a lot of questions must be addressed for the contenders, like...
Should I stack up on Speed, Agility or Strength potions? Do all stats count equally?
How about stamina and healing potions? Are there any healers out there offering their services throughout the event?
Should I use 1-handed or 2-handed weapon?
WIll damage resistance and shield help me?
Should I redistribute combat points? We must assume slashing/piercing do not have any effect, or do they now?
Are there new competition classes, or will Apoclypze rule yet again?
*phew*
Aro have hinted of some changes since the last combat event, so everything's in the open afaik. So, how do you prepare for the Halloween event? Share tips & experiences here!

Re: Halloween 2k17 armament & prepping
Speed, Agility & Strength all count equal during the Event.
Healing always is crucial during such events. However this time the event is shorter and the amount of damage is slightly lower then last year.
This year the 2-handed skill is also used. And increases the damage output of your weapon.
Physical Resistance offers you a chance to completely ignore the damage received each round. A shield (and the blocking skill) count toward the total damage done and offers no additional protection (unlike normal combat).
You can always redistribute your combat points, we made this reasonable cheap, so you can experiment.
New this year is that all the skills connected to your weapon have an effect. So Ranged, Melee, Slashing, Piercing & Crushing contribute toward the damage you deal. If you use a slashing weapon, but you placed points on Crushing, it might be good to swap either the combat points or the weapon.
There are 2 additional prizes for the Seekers who do the most damage in their combat level tier (lvl 5, lvl 10, lvl 15 & lvl 20). Keep in mind, it's the combat level you END the event with that is taken in account.
If there are other questions, I gladly answer them here

Thanks again for incorporating two handed fighting!
What is the chance for two handed fighting to double damage per point, and is it the same as critical strike chance per point?

Re: Halloween 2k17 armament & prepping
It is not the same, Critical Strike has a 0.2% chance per point to double the damage of your strength, agility & speed.
The two handed fighting has a base chance of 5% + 0.2% chance per point to double the damage of your weapon skills (primary skill + secondary skill + damage type (slashing, crushing or piercing) + combat type (melee or ranged).

M'lord, there is one big issue. When I go to the Item Market nowadays, it is very difficult to move between stalls, because there are so many rusty, dusty, never worn axes, swords, clubs, gloves and so forth that clutters every path!
Couldn't there be some kind of exchange market for these, to clear up markets and inventories? It could be simple: Item type (weapon, gloves, helmet, harness, pants, boots) x quality gives a certain something in return from the system when being exchanged. It could be grail tokens, materials, bronze, pralines.... This will not influence the economy much, because it will be one big exchange wave at first, then just a few here and there after every event. If creatures drop too many armor pieces, you can just tweak the numbers, so no problem there.
Of course it must not be so lucrative that it is more tempting to take a cheap prize piece than a higher tier one just to exchange it into goods/goodies.
This market would be easy to implement (I think). A cooler way would be the scavenging skill discussed a year ago or so, but this may be too much work.

After the event Seekers will be able to salvage their Equipment for additional Prize Points. Everything with a rarity of uncommon or higher can be salvaged.
