Camaar has a higher population, they got an edge.
I noticed, before this week's bugged games, that the previous contests, Spero was always ahead in the beginning, but as the week progressed, Camaar caught up and got ahead. It seems Spero has more active members, but Camaar simply has the numbers.

So are skills affecting the results at all or is it just 1 point per member? I had hoped my speed would help me with the running a bit more

Common Spero! I know it is possible to win from Camaar!
There are different Town Games, each of the games has a specific Personal Skill (strength, speed, intelligence or agility).
When playing you got the same chance as your current skill, to double your own point. Making it 2 points for the town instead of just 1.
