Books are avialable for purchase:

Riddles of the Ancient World 2 Gold
The tale of Tark and Tork 2 Gold
A Grail Life Experience 4 Gold

This will mean that the library passes will need to be increased in price, so that we can afford the books, whats a resonable price do you think? We have made 32 silver in the buying of library passes so far. 4 times that amount would get us one book. So 4 silver for 10 days reading privilleges?

I don't think you would get many people buying passes at that price. I would suggest doubling it to 2 silver.

32 passes have been bought in a 1 month period. If we were to sell the passes at 2, that would give us 64 silver in a one month period, not even getting close to the 2 gold. The problem being that those persons who have bought the 32 passes have most likely completed teh book of tark, with no ability of the town to purchase the next book. The town itself only has 1 gold and so many silver. Its not a rich town.

Question is, is the benefit of the books worth 2 silver for 10 days, or 4 silver for 10 days. Benefits of the book are pretty real, and something that can take idk 3 months of eating etc to gain if you did not have the books to do it by.

Edit to add: 3000 page books, 1 stamina per page (less depending on your reading skill chance), 30 days reading at 100 stamina a day (less depending on your reading chance. Thats 3 library passes. With an achievement of 2 skill in the skill your studying for. If it were intelligence that you read for. You would need fish to increase that score, at .02 points per fish eaten. 100 days for the same increase.

hmm, its a catch 22

probably best to increase it only a small amount, dont want people to just stop getting passes altogether..

I had a thought here.. The two books we can buy are Riddles of the Ancient World (2 gold, increases intel) and The Advice of Archibald (4 gold, increases Learning skill aka daily stamina gains). The town does not have 6 gold. But the town can throw up some extremely overpriced goods that people can buy to donate for the library to buy these books. If this sounds like something people would be up for, let me know and we'll do it Smile

Ah nice, that would be a great idea. Smile

Im willing to purchase some goods, plus guess we should do a bit of a mail out? Would that help? We can see if people will buy from that?

Starting this out at 20 wool for 10 silver apiece (so 2 gold total). If we get a good response, I can always add more Smile

Still have those 10 wool on the market, but we bought the Advice of Archibald - gives +2 learning (so +2 stamina/day)!

Ummm... 5 silver for a 10-day library pass? Is there a reason for making this prohibitively expensive?

Seems kind of self-defeating though. Set it too high and people won't buy passes at all (like me!).

Godawful, I thought it was far too high at even 1 silver. I'm shocked if anyone actually gets a pass every week. Maybe a 30 or 50 bronze library pass might make people want to buy one every week just to use up left over stamina.

It doesn't make sense to expect library passes to pay for new books. You invest in the books, then people buy library passes.

Yup I agree as well. If you have it at 5 silver then you really limit who can and can't read books. 5 silver for a new seeker is like really rich. Even for a well set person 5 silver is still alot to just read a simple book each week.

It's a long term investment. You earn the money back for the books over months or years.
It's almost like you just opened up a new store, and are charging 100 dollars for dime store stuff because you want to be in the black next week, but you just end up in bankrupty court instead.
