Airy's Story continued from 'Swaying Gently, Swaying Slow' in the Stories forum.

The Apothecary had done wonders healing Airy's light bruises, but he could do nothing for her arm, it was broken and would take more than 4 weeks to mend. A set back to be sure, especially when a new town needed strength. But it would not get Airy down and most importantly, the baby had been unharmed. Airy was very grateful.

After the Apothecary, Aunt Morgwen and Jaek had hinted at a surprise for her, and so they had traveled once more in the wagon clicking this time along cobbled streets. The Grail Gaurd assured that the young Miss was alright and his services discharged had left awhile ago. They were entering the town square, Airy's eyes looked everywhere at once, recognising some buildings and squinting at the back of others. She would spend tommorrow orientating herself. Today she was exhuasted, her arm ached terribly, she longed for bed, and the lodgings she had arranged to rent, but first her Aunt wished to show her a surprise and so she persevered.

Past the central town they entered a suburban district again, after a short while they pulled up to a tall home, a split two storey. It looked well maintained and inviting, yet Airy wondered why they were here. Jaek helped her down carefully and then Morgwen. They walked up the path a look of confusion on Airy's face. They reached the door, in small lettering Airy read the title above the knocker. Her jaw sagged open.

The lettering was quiet clear 'Airy's Boarding Hostel for New Towns People and Visitors.'

Airy gasped at her Aunt and Jaek, their beaming faces confirmed it "We have taken out a loan on your behalf Airy, the interest is reasonable, and the income from the rooms will be enough to cover your repayments and a little left over." Airy was in her Aunts arms hugging her tightly, before she finished speaking. Pulling back she turned and hugged Jaek too, laughing.

"Its wonderful! Simply lovely! Oh how can I thank you both, I just cannot, but I will, somehow...I will."

Update on Airy's life to date: it seemed Josephs father had dissaproved of his sons friendship with an unwed soon to be mother and so Joseph always the good son, gave into his families demands to leave her. Airy had been heartbroken for a while, but the coming of her baby meant that she had no time to really grieve. And her heart had not been dinted too much, since they had only begun to get to know each other. Sadness was to happen though, in any event, Airy lost the child, for it came to early and only lived a few hours after his birth. She named him after his father, and with Aunt Morgwen and the ever present Jaek, who had dug the small grave for her at the town church, stood beside her as she mourned silently for the young life lost, and too for her sons father, who would be greeting their child in death. So much tradgedy, so young. Being outcast by her parents, losing her young lover, and now her baby. But within each tradgedy there was strength born from it.

Airy's businesses had grown, she now had a share in a black smiths shop, her own herbal shop, and the boarding house. She was doing quiet well for herself, and it would never have happened had she stayed at home and been married off to some stranger, like a dutiful daughter. And she would not have known her wonderful Aunt and her companion. They spent the next few weeks with her, making sure she was okay, before packing and leaving to return to Camaar, Airy felt lost for a while, but soon found herself keeping busy once again, it turned out she had an aptitude for business and so her businesses started, she truly adored Spero and her fellow towns people. Lord Arogandor was such a dear too, and he had given his trust to her, to help him look after things around the world and be his helper, which had made her immensely proud.

She had even went exploring in the big wide world, mapping the known world, and going as far as she could. Had written some guide books for herbs, and alchemy, and helped out with the town jail, and other town projects. Life had taken, but it had also given so much too. Even her darling little baby, she was able to after a time to remember as part of her life even so briefly, but the love he had evoked in her would last forever.

Airy, finished tidying up the guest bedrooms, the last of her tenants leaving for their homes in far off places. She skipped down the stairs, cheeks aglow and healthy, with the vigour of youth and purposeful enterprise. Stopping at the front desk, she scanned the letters she'd left there afer going out the get the morning mail. Opening them to discover a town tax bill, a letter from Marche saying he would be back soon with a load of coal. Smiling to hear he was getting better at coal mining and not so many injuries this time, and that her potions were just the thing to keep him going.

The next letter was a notice from Lord Arogandor, regarding soups that could soon be made..scanning it she realised that she would need to see about purchasing a book for the Spero Library, which reminded her to head off to the University as well, to organise the teachers for the next day. Tucking the town tax bill under arm, she gathered her large bag with her items ready for the day, then put on her long boots, since it had rained over night and the ground was likely full of puddles, tossing a scarf over her head and her big coat, she left through the front door. First stop the Town Office to pay her bill, and see if she could talk to Anto the Mayor, about the soup recipe book, and then onto the University.

Marche jumped off his horse as he arrived at Airy's Boarding Hostel, gritting his teeth as he landed, immediately regretting not getting off the horse more carefully. He had been hunting the Orcs that had recently started to wander off from their own habitat closer to the human settlements. While he did not know why that was happening, they were a force to be reckoned with, much tougher then the bandits or animals that usually were his main opponent. He had slowly learned how to outmaneuver them and where their weak spots were, and the fights had been going better, but they still managed to hurt them. While he did not longer need to hire a mercenary for safety's sake, he could still only manage a few of them before getting wounded too badly and having to retreat. The latest set had not been that serious, but he still had incurred a couple of painful blows and couldn't just, for example, jump off a horse as if he was fine. It was going to take at least a couple of days resting and spending his time healing to recover these wounds. As the physician of Spero, he did not like doing so in the very hospital he was normally overseeing and thus decided to head to Airy's Hostel instead. He wasn't going to need much more then just resting anyway, his body by now getting very used to healing up. Besides, it was a good excuse to visit Airy again, after having been gone for more then a week venturing out in the wild.

Leaving his trusted horse at the stables, Marche made a note to give her some of his undivided attention later as well. His horse had been a trusted companion on the roads and a good aid in battle, distracting the Orcs as he struck with his daggers. Luckily, she was usually good at avoiding any serious wounds in the process. Smiling at his friend, he patted her before taking his herb bag and heading inside. He would reward her valour in battle later. Looking around, he didn't see Airy around yet, so he took a seat at the table and inspected his finds. Airy usually send him out to get stuff for her when she was too busy with the many things that Spero needed. He was happy to do it for her, it gave him something to do as he rested from his lighter wounds in the wild, and ensured a decent side-income as well to keep up the fighting. This time, though, it had not been so much as work as a training session. He had to admit the Herbalist he hired mostly guided him through the finer steps of spotting and finding herbs, but he had learned enough to get a bit decent at it as well. Most the herbs he had found in the last ten days had been traded at the Witch, leaving him with many Red Berries, but also the more exceptional and rare herbs like Dodo Plumes. He hoped Airy would be pleased with his finds, she getting first pick before he would sell the rest on the market, and that it would help her create more potions for the Town. He always had a few of her stronger healing potions with him in case of an emergency, and while he luckily hadn't needed them often, they had proven to be very useful and effective in a few occasions.

Leaning back in his chair, Marche could feel his body straining, an uneasy lingering pain always surging through. He wondered if Airy would be back soon. He wanted to wait for her before granting his body its much-earned rest in a comfortable bed.

Airy bustled in through the front door of her Boarding Hostel, arms full of flowers that she'd found growing wild in the field next to her Alchemy shop, she was also juggling her large canvas bag that she took everywhere with her, filled with all sorts of bits and pieces to help her through her day. Kicking the door shut with a slam, she almost dropped some flowers, and the heavy bag..walking oddly to the front desk, she let it all tumble out of her arms.

"whew" she said out loud to no one. Pushing back a lock of long red hair, she set to work gathering up the flowers, taking the long stemmed blooms through to the kitchen to get a vase and tidy them up, she walked into the living room, which gave her access to the kitchen, when Marche filled her vision. A smile on her lips, "Marche! You're back!" Moving quickly up to him, she completely ignored the flowers in her arms she leant down and kissed him, and then for good measure kissed him again, just incase the first one wasnt good enough. Her eyes wandered over his face, taking him in again. She noticed some bruising along his jaw and some discoloration around his eyes. "Tsk, have you put some herbs on them yet?" She goes to caress his wounds gently, and realises that she has some partially crushed flowers in her arms. Looking down at them a little non-plussed on what to do with them, "Oh dear...hmmm" Making a decision, wait right there, I'll just put these in the kitchen and be right out, she said as she began walking to the kitchens swing door, heading through she placed the flowers into the sink, pumped some water into bowl, before racing back out to living room.

Smiling at him, as she enters the room, she comes over to him, taking a seat close beside him, not her normal perch, which was on his lap, but he was injured and she could tell by the slight strain in his expression, so she put up with just sitting closely to him, and resting her arm along the back of his chair, snuggling under his arm. "Now you can tell me how hurt you are."
