Joseph and his life path

Post by Guest on Tue Nov 02, 2010 6:42 am

All those many months ago, when Joseph first arrived in Spero, he had never dreamed for a moment that he would find what he did. His intentions were purely business and while he did achieve all that was set out for his short visit he gained something of much greater value. Airy. She was everything that Joseph had ever dared to imagine. She replicated what life was. Her vibrant curls of crimson hair, slightly framing her deep emerald eyes that set his heart in motion everytime she looked at him. He wasn't sure what had happened while he was on his first stay. But after leaving Spero to go home all his thoughts were consumed with her. Every time he closed his eyes, there she was, every breath he took every action he made, were all accompanied with her watching over his shoulder. He did not know, when he returend, what would be in store for Airy and himself, but he knew he must return.

To leave much to the pictured form, resting upon imagination. The reunion could have gone no better. He was still scheduled to be in Spreo for a few more weeks before heading home again. Home. Well it certainly was what he used to call it. But now, he felt where ever Airy was, that was home.

Now although he was due to go home and he knew this. Why on earth had his just bought himself a field. Especially when he was most surely not a farmer and had little skills in that area. He had not told Airy yet, Mostly because he had no clue on why he had done it and wouldn't be able to answer her questions. He pulled out a slightly screwed letter from his pocket and re- read it. He had read it, perhaps ten times since it arrived, each time resulting with it being thrust back into his pocket in anger.

The anger quickly drained from his face as his thought turned to Airy. That was where he was heading now. His feet took him to her.

Airy swung along to avenue heading for her field, she was trying out wheat this time, planning to use it for bread. The curve to her lip always there, was a little more satisfied, content. The usual pleated brow as she worried over every new step not there. Life was settling so wonderfully unexpectedly. And Joseph she swung the bucket of water at her side joyously with her gate, darling Joseph, had certainly filled her thoughts so much..worry had no room to roost.

Airy rounded into the farm area..nodding to people she knew attending their farms or others. Calling greetings till she arrived at her own and noticed that familiar red cloak and strong set of his shoulders. "Joseph" she had wondered where he was off to this morning, so secretive..but hadnt expected to see him in the feilds.

Joseph spotted Airy long before his voice would be able to reach her. Making his way through the fields he finaly reached her. Wrapping his arms around her, he pulled her in close and bent his face low so that it was burried in her neck. His eyes closed, he breathed deeply, so content. Good morning Airy. What good fortune that on a walk I manage to find you. He let go of her after his arms had been lingering.

What are you doing today? He glanced at her field and thought it would be an excellent way to practice so that he did not look a fool when it came to his own. Need a hand?

Smiling Airy was addicted to being enveloped in Josephs arms..it was fast becoming her favourite place to me. Sighing a little when he pulled back. "Alas..such an offer..and I cannot take it up..there is nothing more to do with it till harvest in a few more days." Grinning impishly at him.."But I'll be sure to remember you then."

Lifting her bucket to show him "however, Im off the animal fields next, if you've finished your walk, want to come along?" Airy hoped he would, she would spend every moment with him, if she could..she worried that it was soon time for him to go again and hoped some miracle would let him stay.

Joseph smiled at her and took the bucket from her, That, he held in one hand and with his free arm, he offered it out to Airy. Let us go and feed these animals. I do infact have a suprise in the animal field though. He winked at her and they headed off towards the field. You see I have purchased two chickens and a cow. I thought maybe you could care for them when I am away. Take the produce. At least I shall have some comfort in knowing you are well. He smiled at her warmly.

Airys mouth had curved in happiness to here he had purchased some animals, and fell a little at his mention of leaving. Her hand gripped his strong arm as they walked. Her eyes sad but she said with as much normalcy as she could "I would be happy to take care of your animals Joseph, and it will have me set up well." She tried to inject more warmth into it, but failed miserably. She would much rather have the man than his animals. "They ah...they will need slaughtering as they age.." Airy had to ask.."will you be back by then?"

Hope for the right answer in her face.

Joseph felt the pain inside as he heard the sadness in Airy's voice. His mind travelled a thousand answers. Neither of which he liked. Then he remembered the letter in his pocket. Infact I had news yesterday that I am to stay here another 2 months. He smiled at her and squeezed her hand. Even that is not a fixed time either, it may get longer, but most deffinatly not shorter. He looked at her. Of course, that is, if you can stand to have me around for so long.

Airy came to an abrupt halt and careless to the eyes around them she threw herself at him in pure joy. Pulling his head down to her she kissed him with all the happiness in her being. Pulling back a little grinning "I hope that sastifies your concerns sir" Her green eyes sparkling up at him.

Joseph's eyes widened at the sudden shock of Airy's kiss. But soon fell shut as he fell into it. Looking down into her face, he smiled. Ye.. he cleared his throat. Umm yes that surely does. He felt his cheeks flood with colour and he losened the cloak around his neck. Some of the busy farmers were watching them and it made him laugh.

Laughing with pure joy, she turned and set off again her mind filled with a million lovely days ahead of her. Her eyes widened.."Joseph.." Turning to look at him with wonder.."You'll be here for babies birth". She had taken to calling the baby that, its movement almost everday made her think of it more and more as a small person, no longer an it, or a thing, or even the baby.

Joseph smiled warmly at her. Yes, I suppose I shall. They reached the small gate holding the animals in the field and Joseph pushed it gently and watched it swing open.

Once inside, chickens were already bustling around their ankles, clucking merrily. He nudged one out of the way with his boot and continued on over to the other side of the field where a young cow was grazing the grass. You must be mine then, he stated, patting the thing on the side. He turned back to Airy. When the time comes, you shall have to teach me how to milk it. I have a lot to learn. He smiled at her wondering if things could get much better.

Smiling "I cant believe I need to teach you anything, you always seem to know it all." She brushed her hand on the small calf, "What a beauty..Im sure she will grow up very well..suddenly the calf moved and butted the water pail..causing it to slop against Airy "Oh you naughty" Airy tisked a little and held the bucket away. "Lead your little scallion over to the trough and I'll pour in the water."
