The makers of this game has created good plan to regulate his markets, the town owners can controle the basic resources and the finished products can be sold privately amongst players.

Now, GL economy is still very young and totally NOT balanced. Therefor I created this topic to gather all information. If you have done the math, please do post it here.

BUT REMEMBER: this is just a theoretical exercise, within the game there are no regulation to enforce what we discuss here. But it will still be a good excerise, especially for the town-owners and it's citizens.

EGG's

eg.

A chicken can deliver up to 20 egg in a lifetime.
A normal wage paid for picking up an egg is 15 bronze (so a young player can buy himself a bread and save a little money). This wage could get lower if there is some unemployement. Cause one has 100 stamina, and uses only 20 or 15 stamina to pick up the egg. So picking up eggs one whole day would get someone around 75 - 90 bronze.

Wich is a good wage for an inexperienced rancher / farmer.

What do have now:

Investment cost of one chicken: 1 silver 50 bronze
total wage paid at end of chicken life: 20 x 15 = 3 silver.

Total costs = 4 silver 50 bronze

Formula = 450 costs / 20 eggs = 22,50 bronze.

Towns should give around 30 bronze or a bit more to buy eggs from its citizens or traders. Depending on the demand of eggs that is. However they should not go lower then 22 bronze, otherwise the ranchers will start paying really bad wages. (Also, don't forget that one can slaughter the chicken at the end of it's lifetime, wich gives another extra bponus income, but i have not enough data on slaughtering.)

PICKAXES

In order to make a pickaxe, many other things must be fabricated before you can start on completing the job:

You need:
a shaft
a steel ounce
a pickaxe blade
and time to assemble all these thing to make a pickaxe.

In total you'll need around 30 silver to buy the products you need:

6 iron bars x 450 bronze
8 pieces of wood x 20 bronze
2 coals x 68 bronze

(Torgeviste prices)

But four jobs neede to be completed and i have not yet discoverd how much stamina it takes to complete the job if you have 0 on blacksmithing.

Making cheap pick-axes with 1000 durability will probably be very expensive to make, as they won't earn you that much money back in the long run.

However don't forget that you blacksmithing skill will shorten the production time very much, and will make you able to make normal and even better pickaxes with more durability.

Also your mining skill is important on how much you mine.

I think the production is balanced for the moment. An apprentice blacksmith, making a cheap pick-axes shouldn't be able create a Pickaxe-of-doom that will make you richer than ever before. It reflects your skill and idea of this game very well, in order to be good at and reap the benefits you'll have to put in the effort and willlpower to continue.

I'm concerned about plowing wages vs. the cost of the plow.

There is a plow on the market for 20 silver, which given the cost of it's components and labor seems fair. However, with my plowing skill at 12, and the standard wage of .25/unit, I was able to earn 33 bronze while doing 13 damage to my plow. This rate would earn me approx. 12 silver 70 bronze over the life of my plow.

The best way to remedy this would be to increase the lifespan of the plow. Increasing plowing wages would only increase the cost of farm produce and reducing the price of the plow would make it non-profitable for the blacksmith.

I will look for it Smile (there may be a problem with expanding the lifespan of a plough for the code 😢 )

The durability of the Ploughs have NOT been increased! The durability of a tool depends on the stamina you need to create the tool. Increasing the durability would mean that you needed more stamina to create, wich is not ideal cause it doesn't solve a thing then. I'm not ready yet to recode the entire tool part neither.

However I did halve the amount of damage you gain on your plough. So all ploughs will last twice as long now.

Also keep in mind that the damage done to your plough depends on the stamina you use, and not on the amount of units you completed. So the higher your ploughing skill, the less damage your plough will gain for the same amount of completed units.

I hope this will help the economy a little

cheers

Indeed a good remark Edric, but do keep in mind:

1- it was a plough made out of lesser quality iron.
2- your ploughing skill is still at novice.

One will need to break a few plough in order to get the hang of it. My ploughing skill has reached about 50 now...and with a cheap plough I can make a decent profit as long as the wages are about 0,20 / unit

If you can buy a better plough my income will only raise, as it will take longer to break.

I thank you both for the prompt response to my concern and I hope I did not offend.

I would like to see newcomers to our town have a chance to succeed.

This is a good topic, and it hink it should be continued. One thing that made me hesitate upon starting this game was that I had no idea what anything was worth. Is 40 bronze a good deal for bread, or 20 bronze a bad wage for working a field, I didn't know. I didn't want to buy anything like an axe or a curdle because Ic oudl throw away all my money for nothing. Considering aniamls have been updated, maybe that would be a good place to start a breakdown.

Nogwa, its 1 stamina for 1 unit of making something. If that makes sense.

Your current Blacksmith Skill: 6.585
Units completed with 1 stamina: 1

I am also making a cheap pickaxe at the moment and I am making a record of exact stamina needed. Our town prices in Spero are around .5 bronze per stamina, so we never make over a silver a day in Spero. By the same token our goods are priced lower.

6 iron bars x 225 bronze
8 pieces of wood: 25 bronze
2 coals x 30 bronze
