The sun rose on the land, on the city of Hrabrost and the forest closeby. With the rising of the sun, so did the knight. As he had been thaught by his master in the early days, he always got out of bed when the sun rose. This is a very usefull aspect to use in life, as this means that you will have more time in a day to do what has to be done. It makes sure you get everything done and that you can reach for the stars eventually. You can shine every day, do better then the last day and worse then tomorrow, and so does a knight live. But what was a man, if he was just a knight, he was nothing, nothing significant that is, not according to Alexander, and not according to his master, but that vision wasn't shared by everyone. Especially by... but that are old memories.

Alexander started cleaning up his camp spot and packing the improvised tent. He made sure nothing that could still be used was left behind before he moved on. Possession was all that mattered in this world, stuff and money, and he wouldn't just throw anything away for no reason to be left for anyone he didn't know, or even for most he did know. As his last chore was done, he started cleaning his armour. It was no steel armor or complete harnas, it was more light armour, a leather jacket, a steel helmet, sturdy boots, a good sword and shield. It was all he needed, for now. He cleaned everything perfectly before he eventually strapped himself in it and mounted his horse, which was strapped to a tree nearby. His horse, probably the only friend he had in this world, or at least the only real friend, although he know that this wasn't true, he liked to keep it that way, it relaxed him more.

With a lot of thoughts rushing through his mind, Alexander rode off. He went out of the forest and straight to the city of Hrabrost. From there on, he would ride towards the Grail Monastery, where he had bussiness to discuss with the Grail Lord residing there. Looking forward to this meeting, Alexander rode into town, with the sun in his back, looking to the road through town, forward, to where he was always headed, the future.

It was still early when Sam rose from his bed and slowly woke up. He woke up when the sun rose on the land and into his window. Just as he had been thaught, by his master, God rest his soul, a man should wake up early and not waste his time by sleeping half a day. By getting up early you could actually feel alive, you could walk and work your way through life like you should and reach the goals you want to reach at ease, as you would have more time then a normal man, that didn't get up untill it was already an hour or more past sunrise. Sam didn't agree with people who did something like that, but he felt no bad feelings towards them, everyone chose their own lifestyle. He chose his, hopefully to one day become a true knight, as that was significant, if you were a knight, you were everything. You could live and fight for the chivalric code more then any normal man could, to bad that vision wasn't shared by everyone, especially not his master, nor by... the old memories of the old days.

Sam started dressing himself in his small chamber, hired in a local tavern of the city. He had just arrived a few days ago in the city of Hrabrost and he had been very lucky to find a free room that he could rent. He had been able to find a place for everything he had brought with him, although it was little. As he didn't have any chores to do as guest in a tavern, he went straight out to clean his armour. A good leather jacket, a steel helmet, sturdy boots, shield and sword, no true armour for some, but good enough for any man to fight and win for his ideals. After cleaning his armour, he put it on as he did every day. Walking around in armour was normal, as no man could say what to expect in the time to come, and those who said that they could, were to be pitied, as they lied to themselves and others saying such things. Now completely ready, he went to check on his horse, one of his closest friends and comrades through his adventures. He praised himself lucky with his many friends, although some would rather deny their friendship, Sam thought of every friend as a treasure on it's own.

With these thoughts rushing through his mind, Sam went outside again, just standing in front of the tavern, looking out on the road leading through town. It was at this moment that Sam seemed to notice a man riding a horse on the road. He came from the east, and because of the sun, Sam couldn't make out who it was. He decided to take a step back and wait for the man to pass by, so that he could get a better look at him, he was always into meeting new people with interesting stories.

Steadily, Alexander approached the local tavern, of which he had seen the sign quickly. He had though of getting some oat for his horse and some food for himself, as they were both hungry from the long journey they had to undertake to get here. With his mind already focused on his meal and how he was going to get as much as possible without paying more then necessary to the tavernkeeper, he didn't even notice the man standing in front of the tavern untill it was already to late. It was clear by the look on his face that he had recognized him and, although he couldn't see it for himself, Alexander was sure that his face would say exactly the same, although expressing a different emotion regarding the meeting. If he hadn't been so careless, he would probably have noticed the man earlier, and then he might have been able to turn back and search for another tavern in the city, but that was out of the question now.

Alexander sighed deeply and he made sure that the man standing close to the tavern would notice it. He decided to speak, as there was no other option now and he would definitly deny that man the first word in any conversation. With a very clearly irritated voice, Alexander adressed the man.
You. After which he decided to dismount from his horse to speak to the man face to face. He continued talking, cleary irritated. What brings you here to Hrabrost, Sam? Alexander looked Sam straight into his eyes, so that he could tell when he lied, but that wasn't really necessary, as any man that knew Sam would know that he doesn't lie, not even to his worst enemy, or when threatened with death. Alexander waited patiently for an answer.

It took a while before Sam could make out the man on the horse, riding in his direction. But he did seem to have some luck at his side, as the man came right towards the tavern, probably looking for some food for himself and his horse. This reminded him of the fact that he still hadn't had breakfast yet, which he would have as soon as he knew who this man was. After a short while, the man was close enough and it was suprising to see who it was, as it was no ordinary man nor an unknown man to Sam. As expected, the man had recognized Sam too and he wasn't very happy about it, seeing the expression on his face, though Sam was clearly expressing some other emotion. Knowing the man, it was probably not his intention to meet Sam here, in a place or a time like this, and just as he would consider it a good deal of bad luck, Sam was still happy to meet someone that he knew well, so he considered it as luck.

With a remarkable and deep sigh, Sam saw the man readying his words, as he would certainly have the first word in any conversation. Sam knew this and he let the man be. The man started of on an irritating voice. you.
Sam had expected this, and he didn't mind. He just nodded, something the man probably didn't notice, as he was just dismounting his horse. The man continued talking, still irritated. What brings you here to Hrabrost, Sam? After this, the man looked him straight into his eyes. Sam knew that he did it to act though towards him. Normally he would be able to see if someone was lying to him, but the man knew that Sam would never lie. Sam responded calm and kind, like normally. Hey Alexander. Nice to meet you here. Sam smiled, thinking about the reaction he would get to that. I am just passing some days in this town, as I just have undergone quite a trip to get here. But I assume that if you are here, there must be something here that you want or need?

Sam knew that Alexander would probably not tell him what it was he came to do here, but maybe with some more luck, Sam would find out. For now, it seemed best to take things slowly. I haven't had breakfast yet, and knowing you well enough, I suppose you don't have either. Now I know that you would rather eat on your own, but you really shouldn't do that now. Again Sam smiled, he knew exactly what to say to get Alexander going. But hey, if you have breakfast together with me, then it's free. Sam made a clear sign to invite Alexander in the tavern.

As was to be expected, Sam responded kindly. Hey Alexander. Nice to meet you here. Alexander took a step back and growled softly. How was Sam capable of holding up that act of being friendly. It sure was no nice meeting for Alexander.I am just passing some days in this town, as I just have undergone quite a trip to get here. But I assume that if you are here, there must be something here that you want or need? Again Alexander growled, just passing some days, like that could be true, and even if it was, it was typically something for Sam. And the ignorance of thinking that he could just ask what Alexander was doing here, like he would ever get to know that! Alexander shook his head a bit, but Sam already seemed to know in advance that he would do that.

"The problem when you get to know someone well, he gets to know you well too." This was the first thing that went through his mind. But he kept listening to Sam.I haven't had breakfast yet, and knowing you well enough, I suppose you don't have either. Now I know that you would rather eat on your own, but you really shouldn't do that now. Alexander saw the smile on Sams face and he looked up, he sighed and he looked back to Sam, who was nog minding him at all. But hey, if you have breakfast together with me, then it's free. A little smile formed on Alexanders face. Sam knew what he would have to say to get Alexander going.

Though it was quite a problem, Alexander decided that he would go and have breakfast with Sam just to hear him out, nothing more, and definitly not because Sam wanted it. No, he himself was the only one that decided whom to have breakfast with, the fact that it was free was just a bonus. Alexander sighed again and rose his shoulders. Sam was already inviting him in the tavern, Alexander went inside, speaking to Sam in the meantime.
Well, if you insist. Then he stepped inside and picked out a good table, seating himself down and waiting for Sam to come after him. He decided to call the tavernkeeper first. Hey you, behind the bar! Come here you! Clearly shocked of what was said to him, the man came to Alexander. Go take care of my horse will you, it's right outside. And make sure I don't have to complain, you really don't want that! Alexander tapped on his sword and put up a mean smile towards the man, who quickly went outside to do what was asked of him. That is the way the world should work.

Well, if you insist. Were the first and only words in response. Sam smiled even more when Alexander accepted the proposal. He hadn't changed a bit since they parted ways, and that was the reason Sam waited outside for a little while. He could hear that Alexander already yelled at the tavernkeeper to take care of his horse. Sam shook his head, still outside, when he heared Alexander just dictating what the tavernkeeper should do. Soon after, without even saying a word himself, because there was no possibility, the tavernkeeper came outside to abide at the orders. Sam stopped him right outside and spoke to him. You have to forgive my companion, sir, but he seemed to have missed the day on which his master thaught him manners. Please accept this as an apology. Sam gave the man a few bronze coins. His face immediatly cleared up, looking thankfully at Sam, bowing politely and then taking Alexanders horse to take care of it.

After this had happened, Sam stepped inside the tavern and seated himself at the table Alexander had chosen. He looked straight at Alexander.
You really need to be more friendly to other people. They are people, not dogs, when are you ever going to learn that. This time it was Sam who sighed, as he knew it was hopeless to teach Alexander any kind of manners. Well, I suppose we'll just order breakfast. Sam called the waitress to their table and talked to her before Alexander had a chance to do the same. Miss, could you please bring us two pints of beer and something to eat for breakfast? The waitress nodded and left towards the kitchen. Sam leaned back on his chair and looked at Alexander again. So, you still haven't told me why you came here.

The time that Alexander had to wait for Sam to actually come it made him suspect, or rather, just confirmed to him, that he had talked to the tavernkeeper to "apologize" for the behavior of Alexander. If there was anything he hated about Sam most, then it was his neverending kindness and feeling of responsibility towards other people, or rather, towards Alexander. He was about to stand up to get Sam in, when he finally came in by himself. The first thing that followed was, off course, the lecture. You really need to be more friendly to other people. They are people, not dogs, when are you ever going to learn that. Alexander smiled towards Sam and shook his head while Sam was already busy sighing deeply. Alexander decided to say nothing and just waited for Sam to continue on some other topic.

Well, I suppose we'll just order breakfast. Alexander nodded and wanted to call for the waitress, but Sam, knowing how Alexander would handle things, being as usual, was ahead of him and had already called for the waitress. With a long roll of his eyes, Alexander watched and listened to Sams polite ways. Miss, could you please bring us two pints of beer and something to eat for breakfast? After the waitress had left, Sam leaned back on his chair and irritated even more by asking him the same question as before. So, you still haven't told me why you came here. Alexander nodded again.

He decided to first lecture Sam a bit, to toy with him, before going there.
Sam, you really need to learn to be more of a man. The people that work here are payed to serve us, most people in the world should listen to us, and you behave like a mere peasant or something. I really don't get your chivalric ways, it leads to nothing but false glory. I, myself, will make sure that nobody will ever forget my name and I'll do anything to get there, that is something you should learn too, if you want to accomplish anything in your life. Alexander smiled to Sam, very satisfied that he could give him a lecture of his own. After a short silence, he continued with the question Sam had already asked him twice. And who knows why I am here, maybe I'm just passing through like you are, isn't that a possibility? Why do I have to be questioned about it if you are in the same situation as I am.

Alexander sure wasn't happy about the way Sam acted, but that was no different then every other time they did something together. After he had lectured Alexander, it was now his turn to undergo a lecture, which was to be expected. He just let Alexander speak without disturbing him, that way he would stop sooner. Sam shook his head, disagreeing.

He knew that Alexander thought that way about life and that he had obtained the best way to go through life, doing whatever he wanted to whomever he wanted, that way being more of a man and let the servant be servants. It is something he and Alexander would never agree on, the way of life. Chivalry was the only thing that mattered from Sams point of view and Alexander thought it was straightly the opposite. Eventually, after a short silence, Alexander responded to the question Sam had already asked twice, but it was, off course, an evasive answer. And who knows why I am here, maybe I'm just passing through like you are, isn't that a possibility? Why do I have to be questioned about it if you are in the same situation as I am.

Sam responded quickly, but still kind.
The reason why you are being "questioned", if you would like to call it that way, is because we both know each other a long time, and you know as well as I do that you never just pass by. You take every step in your life in a certain direction to make sure you will get most profit out of that direction in the end. If you don't want to say it, then it's fine, but don't think you'll get rid of me for the rest of your stay here. I want to make sure you don't do anything stupid, as usual. At this moment, the waitress came to their table with food and drinks. Sam thanked the waitress and gave her a few bronze coins to thank her. He looked up to Alexander and then turned his attention to his dish, eating in silence.

Answer followed quickly on his last words, but it was no quick answer. Again, this was the pain of knowing each other well enough. Alexander smiled, but he sure wasn't happy.

Luckily for Alexander, or actually to bad for him, the waitress then arrived at the table with food and drinks. Alexander had to witness Sams kindness, thanking the waitress and giving her a few bronze coins. Alexander mumbled.
Stupid kindness, if you have coins left, you can always just give them to me as well. But he off course made sure that Sam couldn't hear what he said. That was not the case, it seemed, as Sam was already focussing his attention on his breakfast. Alexander looked up one time and then looked at his breakfast. Again he mumbled. He's lucky that he at least payed me this meal, as I surely can miss someone following me around for the rest of my stay here. Already trying to think of ways to get rid of Sam, Alexander also started on his breakfast, eating in silence, as learned by his master.

After a good breakfast, both men stared at each other in silence for quite a while. Sam couldn't imagine what was going on in Alexanders mind right now. Probably things like "why does he want to follow me" or "how can I get rid of him". That last thing was almost certainly something he would wonder about. It was mysterious that people could know each other that well and still question about such things, so far the saying "knowing eachother through and through". This was a bit of bad luck for Sam, as he certainly would want to know what Alexander was thinking.

After this silence, Sam decided to speak first, and get a conversation going.
So, Alexander, since you don't want to tell me where we will go, I won't bother asking you again. I shall rephrase my question. We are done eating for some time now, that is clear, I think. Are you, and me too, so actually, are we going out soon? Sam smiled friendly. Alexander would surely be irritated by his question, but there was no way around it, and it was not that he was revealing any "precious" information by telling if he would be leaving now or in half an hour. Sam just hoped that Alexander wouldn't mind his company for the rest of the day, it was just a bit of curiousity from his side, as he definitly wanted to know what Alexander was up to. But the most important reason was the one he had given, he wanted to make sure that Alexander wouldn't do anything stupid.

Quietly and patiently, still looking at Alexander while Alexander was looking at him, Sam waited for an answer on his question. He couldn't imagine what was going to Alexanders mind after this question, probably more of the same. He decided to stop thinking about it and see what the answer would be.

After a good breakfast, both men stared at each other in silence for quite a while. Alexander couldn't imagine what was going on in Sams mind right now. Probably things like "how can I follow him" or "where would he go to". That last thing was almost certainly something he would wonder about. It was mysterious that people could know each other that well and still question about such things, so far the saying "knowing eachother through and through". This was a bit of good luck for Alexander, as he certainly wouldn't want Sam to know what he was thinking.

After the time of silence, Sam seemed to go through with his determination to follow him around. He raised another question. So, Alexander, since you don't want to tell me where we will go, I won't bother asking you again. I shall rephrase my question. We are done eating for some time now, that is clear, I think. Are you, and me too, so actually, are we going out soon? Alexander didn't give a sign of any emotion to Sam, while thoughts were rushing through his head. What would he have to say to this. He didn't want to say where he was going, but Sam seemed to have found a way around that dilemma. Sam didn't give out anything to him too, except for a friendly smile, which irritated Alexander endlessly.

It took a while, but eventually Alexander looked down, sighed and looked back up again. Sam was going to be following him no matter what he would say or do, then he would as well make his own trip easier by telling everything there is to tell, so he wouldn't have to go through a thousand interviews before getting to his destination. He spoke calmly, clearly accepting the fact that he would have Sam following him.
Ok, you win. I know that I'm not going to get rid of you and that you have made up your mind, so be it. To make sure I don't have to keep talking to you all the time during my stay here, I might as well inform you on what I'm doing here.

I'm coming here to go to the Grail Monastery. I will speak to a Grail Lord there, hopefully he will be willing to see me, otherwise, well, you know I'm too stubborn to just walk away, but we will see that when we get there. What I'm going to speak about is something you won't find out, so don't ask me. For now, I only want to get there, that would be the first step. Tell me, have you ever heard about the Grail Lord residing here? His name is Lord Arogandor.

Sam slowly noticed that Alexander was accepting the fact that he wouldn't be able to escape from Sams attention. When he started talking with the words Ok, you win. Sam already knew that he would get to hear the entire story right now. He leaned forward, his elbows on the table, his hands under his chin, and listened to what Alexander had to say.I know that I'm not going to get rid of you and that you have made up your mind, so be it. To make sure I don't have to keep talking to you all the time during my stay here, I might as well inform you on what I'm doing here. Sam nodded in response so that Alexander would definitly continue. There was no need to discuss the fact if he was going to be silent the rest of the day.

I'm coming here to go to the Grail Monastery. I will speak to a Grail Lord there, hopefully he will be willing to see me, otherwise, well, you know I'm too stubborn to just walk away, but we will see that when we get there. It was well known that Grail Lords Arogandor was to be found here in the Grail Monastery.

The only thing that puzzled Sam now was why Alexander wanted to speak to him, but he didn't mention that to Alexander, as he knew he would never know. He was silent for a while, thinking of what this meant. Eventually, he nodded when he looked back to Alexander.
Ok, so our, your if you wish, goal, is to see the Grail Lord Arogandor. Well, I'm sorry to say, but besides the stories that everyone knows, about him being Grail Lord and residing here, there is nothing more that I know about him. I wish it was different, but so be it. Sam stood up from his seat and put some money on the table to pay for the meal. Well then, no more reason to be slacking off here. Shall we leave for the Monastery right away?

Alexander knew that Sam was thinking about what he would like to discuss with the Grail Lord, but he also knew that he wouldn't have to ask about it again. It was a worry less for Alexander. Sam responded to his question about Lord Arogandor, so Alexander leaned back a bit. Ok, so our, your if you wish, goal, is to see the Grail Lord Arogandor. Well, I'm sorry to say, but besides the stories that everyone knows, about him being Grail Lord and residing here, there is nothing more that I know about him. I wish it was different, but so be it. Alexander nodded. Sam would still be too damn honest to lie about these things, so Alexander knew that he wouldn't get any more information about Lord Arogandor from Sam. That didn't matter, he knew more then enough himself to go speak to him.

Suddenly, Sam stood up from the table, putting down some money, probably way too much, to pay the waitress and the tavernkeeper, and he said something else. Well then, no more reason to be slacking off here. Shall we leave for the Monastery right away? Alexander kept staring at the coins for a while longer but decided not to make that much trouble over so little money and let it be. He looked up at Sam, stood up, and spoke to him.
Hey, who's journey is this, that you are telling me not to slack off? With a little growl, followed by a mean smile, he pointed himself at the door.

But hey, you are right. The sooner we get to the Grail Monastery, the better. Let's get to the stables and fetch our horses. Alexander stepped towards the door and yelled something back at Sam. Are you coming or are you slacking off yourself now? With these words, he stepped outside and went to the stables next to the tavern.

Sam saw Alexander standing up too, it was to be expected as he was impatient enough to agree when he suggested that they would leave rather sooner then later. Before doing anything else, however, Alexander said something to Sam. Hey, who's journey is this, that you are telling me not to slack off? Alexander growled, whilst Sam could do nothing but smile, as he found it rather funny how Alexander reacted to the whole deal. It was not his wish to do so, but in the end Alexander seemed quite annoyed by his presence. When Alexander smiled meanly at him and pointed himself at the door, he continued. But hey, you are right. The sooner we get to the Grail Monastery, the better. Let's get to the stables and fetch our horses.

Sam nodded as that would be the first and only thing they would still have to do before they could leave. While Sam was happily looking forward to the trip, Alexander had already moved himself at the door. Sam got torn from his thoughts when Alexander yelled something back at him from the door. Are you coming or are you slacking off yourself now? Sam cried out a little laugh and nodded, to see that Alexander had already left the tavern. He quickly followed in his footsteps, on his way to the door, he greeted the tavernkeeper and then he left the tavern to go to the stables.

Arriving at the stables, Alexander was already busy, preparing his horse for the journey, checking his equipment and supplies.
Well, you suddenly seem quite eager to leave at the instant. I'm glad I could fire up the old spirit that good. While Sam laughed silently about this, he also started preparing his horse and checking everything he had on him. It wouldn't be such a long trip to the Grail Monastery, but still, no man can tell what awaits on the road. After a long silence, only disturbed by the normal stable noises, Sam led his horse out of the stable, ready to depart. Outside of the stables, he quickly mounted his horse with ease and looked back to see if Alexander was coming out already.

When he arrived at the stables, Alexander started to prepare his horse for the journey, also making sure he had enough supplies with him and that his own armour was well attached. Soon Sam came in too and said something to Alexander. Well, you suddenly seem quite eager to leave at the instant. I'm glad I could fire up the old spirit that good. Alexander growled yet again and decided to say nothing about it. He did everything at his own pace and the fact that Sam told him about it didn't change anything. Hoping that Sam wouldn't be bothering him with questions and tales all the way to the Grail Monastery, Alexander continued preparing everything.

A bit later, after a moment of silence, Sam went outside the stables and mounted his horse. Alexander soon followed him outside and when he stood beside Sam, he mounted his horse as well. He looked aside to Sam.
Let's get to the Grail Monastery. If we hurry a bit then we can get there by noon. After this, Alexander gave his horse the spurs and he rode away, almost flying if that were even possible. He knew that Sam would be able to follow him so he didn't have to hold back. At a steady but fast pace, he followed the road to the Grail Monastery, knowing that only then his adventure here would just start and that he would probably have a lot to do to reach his goal.

Sam didn't have to wait long for Alexander to come outside. Soon, he came out with his horse and stood aside him. Just as Sam did, Alexander mounted his horse and it was clear that he wouldn't waste a single bit of time. He looked at Sam and Sam looked at Alexander. Let's get to the Grail Monastery. If we hurry a bit then we can get there by noon. Sam nodded, that being totally unnecessary, as Alexander was already giving his horse the spurs and they left the stables. If gravity wouldn't be so present, Sam wouldn't doubt for a moment that Alexander would just shoot through the sky to his next destination. Smiling on that thought, Sam gave his horse the spurs too.

He had to keep up quite a speed to follow Alexander, and even more since he first had to catch up. It took a while, and a mentionable part of the way they had to go was already done before Sam finally caught up with Alexander, who was still going forward at full speed. Sam lessened his speed as much as he could, this to spare his horse, but he couldn't overdo it, or he wouldn't be able to follow. This way, silently following Alexander, the two friends went to the Grail Monastery in silence.

The road wasn't long to the Grail Monastery and luckily he and Sam didn't encounter to many suprises on the way. After a while, a big building occured in the distance, the Grail Monastery! Alexander decreased his speed a bit and sat up straight, looking at the building, getting bigger as he went closer. There it would be that big things awaited him. There it would be that he would find his life's goal. He would meet the Grail Lord named Arogandor who resides there and ask him straight forward if he could help him become a Grail Lord, or at least help him on his way. And he had something that would help, a bit bag of money, pure golden coins.

Coins he had to fight for. He had done so much to get those coins together. He had fought lions and tigers in travelling fairs, hunted wild animals for nobles and protected rich people from being robbed, but the only memorable thing was the time he was a bounty hunter.

It was a cloudy noon and the sun couldn't be found anywhere. It was on this day that Alexander finally found back the trail of the man he hunted, Brook, the infamous swordsman. Travelling in front of him, on foot, as told to him by the many reports of the people who saw him, and who were most of the time robbed by him too. Alexander shouted out to him as soon as he was in range. Hey Brook, you scumbag, surrender or die! Brook stopped moving and this was the sign for Alexander that he had accepted the challenge. Every so often, Alexander came across other bounty hunters who would have tried and failed to capture Brook. They tell about him being the most magnificent swordsman, a man who wouldn't decline any challenge, nor would accept anything else then death or winning. A man that would finally be worth the time to track and kill.

Alexander stepped closer to Brook, readying his shield. Not a word was said anymore, and Brook began his charge at Alexander. Alexander quickly drew his sword but had to deflect the attack with his shield. He was pushed back by the powerfull blow of the sword and before he could recover, he already had to defend against another blow, not being able to strike for a first time in between. A few minutes later, Alexander was already on his knees, barely keeping up his shield as Brook hammered on it with his sword. Suddenly, Alexander had a good idea. Just after he had blocked another blow, he threw up some sand, blinding Brook for a few seconds. Alexander quickly stood up and stepped back.

While he was looking at Brook, trying to keep an eye on Alexander as good as he could while rubbing out the sand in his eyes, he decided that now would be the time. He quickly charged at him and he aimed his sword towards Brooks waist. It seemed to work but suddenly he felt his sword was blocked and he saw Brook, standing aside, with his sword blocking Alexanders sword. Although the block was succesfull, Alexander quickly withdrew his sword and stabbed forward. Brook managed to deflect this swordstab by swinging down with his sword. As an answer to this, Alexander made a circle with his sword, from being pushed down to going up besides Brook and, before he could get up his sword to defend, Alexanders sword pierced Brooks shoulder. Now Alexander knew that he had won.

But the fight wouldn't be over. Brook still had his swordarm unwounded. He quickly stabbed forward, hitting Alexander in the shoulder. Alexander quickly pulled up his shield, hitting Brooks arm from below and forcing him to let go of his sword. Alexander raised his sword and pointed at Brooks neck. Brook nodded, aknowledging his defeat. Alexander swung his sword one last time, killing Brooks and winning the battle. After this fight, Alexander stepped back to town, with Brook laying on the back of his horse. He claimed the bounty of 50 gold coins, went to the hospital and in the evening, he was already moving on to the next village, and the next bounty, though this one would be the one that he would always remember.

[The Present]

When Alexander tapped on the gold, he suddenly felt the old wound in his shoulder. The pain soon dissappeared, as the wound was long healed, but with the memories came the pain. Alexander sighed and moved on, quickly reaching the gates of the Grail Monastery, where he dismounted and looked at the guard, who would surely ask him who he was and tell him what to do.

Not many suprises had befallen Sam and Alexander on the short trip to the Grail Monastery and soon the big building appeared in the distance. It was a magnificent building, as expected, and the inside would probably be even more beautifull then the outside. As Alexander slowed down, so did Sam, happy that he and his horse could take it a bit more at ease now. For a moment Sam wanted to talk to Alexander, but as he seemed to full of thoughts at the moment, Sam decided that it would be best to stay silent en just enjoy the view of the Grail Monastery getting bigger as they went closer. Sam didn't have many worries on his mind and he was happy that he could make this trip together with Alexander. He would be able to take a look at the architecture of the Grail Monastery and at the decoration inside. Besides that, he would probably meet up with the Grail Lord as well, although he didn't have any bussiness with him.

Eventually reaching the gate of the Grail Monastery, Sam followed Alexanders example and dismounted, looking at the guards standing at the gate, he waited patiently for them to speak to them first.

*When the two travellers arrived at the Monastery Gate, a gate captain came outside to welcome the visitors.
The gate captain was a force man who seems to have earned his position by using brute force and proven himself worthy by fighting and shouting.*

"Greetings Travellers,

Welcome to the Grail Monastery!"

*With a simple command the Captain grants the two travellers passage inside the Grail Monastery....*

Alexander took a good look at the guard that greeted them. He was well built, but Alexander had defeated bigger and stronger guys then that in his days as a bounty hunter. Though, he didn't came here for a fight. Greetings Travellers, Welcome to the Grail Monastery! Alexander nodded friendly and the guard gave them passage to the Grail Monastery. Alexander didn't pass though, he turned his attention to the guard.

Excuse me, but could you maybe tell me where I can find the Grail Lord who resides here and goes by the name of Arogandor, and perhaps if he is free to see me at the moment. Alexander managed to put up a friendly smile towards the guard while he waited for an answer.

*The Captain starts laughing*

"Naaaah I'm just kidding you fella! I'm just a captain, I don't know where his lordship is or if he even wants to see you!

Alexander saw the guard putting up a serious face as he started to tell about the Grail Lord. Oooh you want to speak with the Great Lord, do you? Thats easy, his lordship is just sitting in my office playing cardgames with the rest of the Gate Guards! I'm sure he would loooooooove talking to you right away! Now it was Alexander whoes face looked very suprised, though it quickly jumped into a serious one too. It was just impossible that a Grail Lord would be playing cardgames with the guards. Why would a man every lower himself to such a thing?

At this moment, Alexander looked back at Sam and he sighed. Of course, morals and chivalry, the most stupid belief a man could have. There would probably be at least one Grail Lord that had such morals, luckily Alexander didn't know them and he was happy for that fact. Though, he was sure that the Grail Lord Arogandor wouldn't be such a man, so he wanted to correct the guard, but the man was already laughing. Naaaah I'm just kidding you fella! I'm just a captain, I don't know where his lordship is or if he even wants to see you! But you can leave a note here, I'm sure it will find its why to the Grail Castle. Alexander responded with a growl and a bit of mubling. He sighed deeply.

Why did this man think he needed any amusement or any delay? Hadn't he come to this place to reach something serious? Alexander responded to the guard, clearly irritated, but yet as calmly as possible.
I would have never believed that the Grail Lord Arogandor would be playing cardgames with guards. You have kept me busy with humour that I do not find acceptable, but every man has it's own humour, I suppose. Though at least you made clear that I can find him here, in the Grail Monastery, and more clearly in the Grail Castle. I will go look for him there. Alexander passed the guard through the gates and made a hand sign to Sam. Maybe you can humour my companion a bit while I do the serious matters.

*The Captain bows his head*

"Excuse me Sir! For making my day a little less boring, Sir! Standing at the gate all day sir! Pardon me for having some fun sir! Have a nice day Sir! Watch your head Sir!"

*The Captain looks to the other villager and rolls his eyes*

"You have travelled with that man all the time? What's his problem? Does he really wants to see our Lordship? Is he a little funny in the head?"

Sam silently went through the scene in front of him between Alexander and the guard. The guard was very casual and actually just being human, but Alexander didn't seem to care much about what he was trying to do and just expected a guard that started living, said hi politely, let him through and stopped living afterwards. When eventually Alexander passed through the gate, clearly irritated, and leaving behind a more irritated guard, Sam couldn't stop himself from finding Alexander a hopeless case. Just as he passed through, he heared him say something to the guard about him. Maybe you can humour my companion a bit while I do the serious matters. Sam sighed deeply. He felt kind of sorry for the guard that he had to endure such a man and such manners, but there was nothing he could ever do about it.

Suddenly, the guard turned towards him. You have travelled with that man all the time? What's his problem? Does he really wants to see our Lordship? Is he a little funny in the head? Sam couldn't supress a smile, but he shook his head and responded.
You don't have to mind my companion, he has been that way from his childhood and he won't change untill he's long gone. How I'm able to keep going with him, is a mystery even I can't solve, I suppose that opposites attract and come along better. I don't think he has a real problem, he's just like that, I suppose only people with the same kind of character can truly understand that. Sam stepped towards the gate too. When he passed the guard, he stopped, turning to him again. I know he is fixed on speaking to your lord, but why is a mystery to me too. There is only one thing I'm sure of, if he's here, then it's serious. He ain't funny in the head at all. Sam smiled again, turned away from the guard and stepped inside, following Alexander, or at least trying to do so.
