Coal and Iron Mine update
We gave an update to the Iron and Coal mines!
We improved interface and freshened up the layout. Finally we added a more suitable image as well.
We added more information about your chances on success and the risks of receiving damage in the mines. The chances changed a little in favor of the player although the amount of money you can find in the mines is slightly less.
At the coal mine, you no longer receive a detailed list with all the stamina spent. Instead you receive an overview similar like in the iron mine.
The Endurance Skill is no longer used to give you a chance on extra resources but is now used to lower the amount of damage received.
The Luck Skill no longer influences the amount of damage received but increases your chances on finding a random quality Healing potion, money or extra Coal and Iron Ore.

The Endurance Skill is no longer used to give you a chance on extra resources but is now used to lower the amount of damage received. okay but is it the same rate? 0,4%? or is it lower?
luck now effects ore and money and potion finds? but is there a % to that to
or is that info secret?

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
In the previous update you could only receive one thing with each stamina, so OR iron, coal, damage, money,.... This now no longer is an issue, you can receive multiple things with each stamina. Due this is is difficult to make a 100% correct comparison.
They are no game secret, below you find the exact chances, take in account that these apply for 1 stamina. If you use 100 stamina, you have the same chances 100 times.
Iron Mine:
Basic gain of 0.70 Iron ore.
10 basic + Mining Skill >= random number between 1 and 200 gives 1 extra ore.
150 - Endurance Skill > random number between 1 and 1500 gives between 1 and 3 damage.
10 + Luck Skill >= random number between 1 and 1000 gives between 1 and 10 Bronze.
Luck Skill >= random number between 1 and 5000 gives a random quality healing potion.
In the previous version, the damage was 1 to 4, the money was 1 to 20 and the healing potion was always cheap.
Coal Mine:
25 basic + Mining Skill >= random number between 1 and 500 gives 1 coal.
150 - Endurance Skill > random number between 1 and 1500 gives between 1 and 3 damage * region level.
10 + Luck Skill >= random number between 1 and 1000 gives between 1 and 10 Bronze.
10 + Luck Skill >= random number between 1 and 1000 gives one extra Iron Ore.
Luck Skill >= random number between 1 and 5000 gives a random quality healing potion.
In the previous version, the damage was 2 to 6, the money was 1 to 20 and the healing potion was always cheap.

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
Hmm,
What is the old rate of healing potion drop vs the new?
From what I understand, the healing potions will now drop very much less frequently, but there is a 1/6 chance you land some grail healing potions?

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
It seems there still are some differences with the old and new damage gained. I'm still going to double check this. It is not my intention to make the mines more difficult.
I also will see the difference between the old and new drop rate for healing potions.

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
Iron Mine Comparison:
Old way for Iron Ore:
- basic of 0.70 ore/stamina
- 10 + Mining Skill >= rand(1,200) gives 1 ore extra
- Endurance Skill >= rand(1,250) gives 1 ore extra
New way for Iron Ore:
- basic of 0.70 ore/stamina
- 10 + Mining Skill >= rand(1,200) gives 1 ore extra
Old way for losing Life-points: 110 - Luck Skill > rand(1,2500) ==> dmg(1,4) for each stamina spent.
New way for losing Life-points: 150 - Endurance Skill > rand(1,1500) ==> dmg(1,3) for each stamina spent.
Old way of finding money: 10 + Luck Skill >= rand(1,1000) gives rand(1,20) bronze.
New way of finding money: 10 + Luck Skill >= rand(1,1000) gives rand(1,10) bronze.
Coal Mine Comparison:
Old way for Coal: 25 + Mining Skill >= rand(1,500) gives 1 coal extra * region level (1,2,3)
New way for Coal: 25 + Mining Skill >= rand(1,500) gives 1 coal extra * region level (1,2,3)
Old way for losing Life-points:
if no coal mined => 10% chance to continue.
if continue 20 + Luck Skill < rand(1,200) to continue.
if continue 60% chance to lose rand(3,6) damage * region level (1,2,3).
New way for losing Life-points: 150 - Endurance Skill > rand(1,1500) ==> dmg(1,3) * region level (1,2,3) for each stamina spent.
Healing Potion Comparison:
Old way: 0.1% chance to find a cheap healing potion for each stamina spent.
New way: 0.02% chance * Luck Skill to find a random quality potion for each stamina spent.
Conclusion:
- finding Iron Ore & Coal are very similar as previous version.
- Finding a healing potion depends more on the luck skill. For Seekers with more then 5 on luck it will be more easy to find a potion.
- Losing life, the chance to receive damage might be higher (and can be changed still) the amount received is lower, especially in the coal mine.

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
The chance to receive damage has been adjusted in both mines.
It varies now between 5% and 2.5% depending on your Endurance Skill. Seekers without any endurance would have 5% chance to lose 1 - 3 life-points.
So in average, if you spend 100 stamina you would lose about 10 Life-points. If you lose more, you just were unlucky, if you lose less, you were more lucky then average.

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
today i mined some iron and spend 105 stamina in the upper region of the mine. i gained 15 coal! my mining skill is 100 %. that is less then a 20% change. Hoe to explain that?

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
Looks like from Aros post the code for coal mining didn't change. I had thought it used to be 33% chance per stam regardlesd of mining level, but according to that post it was and still is 25% chance with 100 mining skill.
Seems like you just got unlucky, with 100 stam you could expect 25 coal. I've mined coal since this update and have gotten around the same results. Same with iron mining, except I have seen that I usually get 1-2 potion drops a day.
Doesn't seem like I lose more health than usual either, maybe even less, but I have to try it out more.

Could just be very unlucky. With 25% chance for coal you should have a 0.5% chance to end up with 15 or less when using 105 stamina.

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
Looks like i'm a very unlucky person. I'm mining coal now for the third day and got me in the hospital. I can't figure out how many coal i did get. I give you the numbers tomorrow. But the will be very bad.
Like i said, the first day i mined 15 coal with 105 stamina, the second day i mined in the deepest layer and got 94 coal for 277 stamina and the third day i can't tell you yet because i'm in the hospital. Lost 47 silver and 100 mood and about 130 life points.
Further you should keep in mind that i loose life points when i walked to the mine. 2 orc, 2 worgs a goblin and 2 angry bears.
It looks like mining coal isn't profitable at all.
* i bought myself out of the hospital costs 12 silver 75. I didn't get any coal the third day mining.
So i mined 109 coal
Cost: 390 life points and 60 silver, with 7 bronze per life point this is about 87 silver. But i bought also some Followers for about 10 silver. Total 97 silver for 109 coal.
Conclusion: my coal cost 1 silver each !

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
If you die while mining you lose all the coal you were going to gain when you died. Like Mena said it's wise not to spend all your stamina at once. If you die when you mine with 40 stam you'll lose all the coal gained with the 40 stam, same if you die while mining with 200.
I don't get this code though:New way for losing Life-points: 150 - Endurance Skill > rand(1,1500) ==> dmg(1,3) * region level (1,2,3) for each stamina spent.
Should it not be 150+ endurance skill? The way I'm reading it looks like having more endurance skill would increase your chance to receive damage.

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
I think the > should be a <, making the formula:
150 - Endurance Skill < rand(1,1500) ==> dmg(1,3) * region level (1,2,3) for each stamina spent.
This way with 0 endurance skill you have a (150-0)/1500 or 10% chance to lose 1-3xlvl hp per stam spent. With 100 endurance the chance would be (150-100)/1500 or 3.33% to lose hp. This at least seems pretty close to the damage I was taking. (also makes a lot more sense than losing over 5 hp per stam on average at lvl 3 as the listed formula would imply )

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
@ mena32: i did use all stamina at once. inread somewhere that the coal mining was now the same as iron mining. It is not. With the iron mining i never had any problems using all the stamina at once. In the past that wasn,t a problem either.
next time, iff there is a next time, i will use portions of 40 .

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
Okay after doing some more coal mining I'm a bit more confused. From spending my stamina in the deepest part of the coal mine I can receive just 1 or 2 coal. Looking at the code, and in the past (supposedly nothing has changed with the code judging from the post besides the appearance), only multiples of 3 should be able to be gathered in the deepest part of the coal mine.
Is the code for coal not multiplying the gains by how deep you're mining in? I'm not 100% sure but the damage received seems to still be a multiple of 3.

Re: Coal and Iron Mine update
Formule to receive damage in the Coal Mine:
(200 - Endurance Skill) / 4000.
The damage you receive varied between (1 and 3) * region level.
Formule to calculate the chance on getting a coal for each stamina spend:
((25 * region) + skill) / 500.
The amount of coal is no longer multiplied with the region level.

Doing a quick calculation that seems like a lot less coal than before (less than half at 100 skill), is that intended?

Just to be clear, this means the chance of finding 1 coal per stamina is 25% in the highest region, 30% in the second, and 35% in the deepest. Seems like it might actually be better at the moment to mine in the second or 1st region rather than the deepest region.
