Bracken's Bespoke Tailoring (clothier shop)
The door creaks open to reveal rolls of cloth, racks of skeined wool and neat piles of leather. Rising from a seat in the centre is a lanky man with eyes the colour of new bracken fronds.
What can I do for you today?

What's the difference between a cheap blanket and expert blanket?

With a cheap blanket, you heal 1 extra point a night (so 2 points total). With an expert blanket, you heal 3 extra points a night (so 4 points total)

How did you come to work out your prices Bracken?

Re: Bracken's Bespoke Tailoring (clothier shop)
It's 0.5 bronze per labour unit + cost of materials

Re: Bracken's Bespoke Tailoring (clothier shop)
I also meant the costs of your materials working out? Do you rely on what the town sets as prices? Or have you figured out your own costs on those?

Re: Bracken's Bespoke Tailoring (clothier shop)
It averages out at about 35b an item (It's a mixture of town price, home-grown price and gut instinct, I'm afraid. Not very scientific )

Re: Bracken's Bespoke Tailoring (clothier shop)
Before I bought you belt and blanket I did do some number crunching, you had marked them up, I cant remember how much over now, but I dont think the price was too outrageous, but I was always curious what you had based your numbers on. I looked up my old numbers for running cows, since I run them for cheese and sell some cheese meals at the bistro..I know a bit about what actual profit you get from them and can help you out maybe.
One cow costs you:
5.00 silver to buy
2.30 stamina to milk
.13 to stamina slaughter
.50 durability of a cheap knife (made by market bought goods)
Total = 7.93 to have your cow.
Your cow supplies you with 92 milk if you were to sell to the town thats 11.04 silver. Even if you dont sell to the town and drink it, in reality your then drinking 11.04 silver, because that is what you would have paid to drink that much milk.
So already just from the milk you get 3.11 profit. If you turn that into cheese then its a whole nother figure...I hope you dont turn into cheese, I dont want to do that calc just yet :p.
Okay, that also means that the 3 - 4 leather you get is profit to, using the towns price for leather as a guide into what to charge your customers is a viable option, because whatever price you put on them, is pure profit. In other words your making good money, even if the prices seem low. The reality is, your prices arent low...just everything else is too high. Even our food in the bistro I think. Because then there is the meat from the cow, 8 peices..pure profit again. It does mean for people that make them into a meal and sell them at the bistro, that they could possibly consider selling cheaper meals there. But thats nothing about the tailor shop, so I wont bore you with the details there.
Sorry I went off on a ramble there...but I hope that helps you and your gut... .
Do you run sheep for your wool? I havent worked with sheep and know very little about them.

Re: Bracken's Bespoke Tailoring (clothier shop)
Thanks. You can probably tell that maths isn't my strongest subject. I find round numbers easier to remember and work with. No I don't turn milk into cheese.
I kept sheep for a while when I started. I don't have any at the moment, because there's a lot of wool on the market, and because shaving sheep is expensive on stamina - stamina I can use better elsewhere. (iirc it's about 40 stamina a shave)
From a sheep, I got:
45 wool (in 15 shavings/shearings)
8 meat
1 leather

Re: Bracken's Bespoke Tailoring (clothier shop)
I have another order for a wool cape to finish first (which will take most of a week).
Then it will be a week for the master blanket, a week for your master cape and 2 weeks for the master belt.
Total of 4 weeks work for the lot. Which would you like first?
