Spring is Coming! Empty Spring is Coming!

Post by Lord Arogandor Wed Feb 25, 2015 4:47 pm

Dear Seekers,

Although the Winter is still in the Grail Realm, we notice the first signs of the renewing spring!
Let us clear the path for Spring and get rid of snow and ice!

The Grail Lords will launch an large offensive against the Legions of Winter in two weeks and hope you also will take up arms in this upcoming Event!
You will need all you have to defeat Winter so start restocking your Healing Potions, sharpen your weapons, build up your stamina reserve and mentally prepare for the upcoming Boss Event! This event will be open for public on 11th of March and just like with the Halloween Event, towns will compete against each-other!

You and your fellow citizens will need to defeat Winter before the Town Fields will be destroyed by frost!

Feel free to leave a comment or suggestion!

We truly hope you have some heat to spill, your town will need it...

Some Additional information:

- This event will be similar to the Halloween Event. We know it is another combat event, but the other events are far from being finished.
- As requested, we announced this event before it takes place to give some time to you all to prepare.
- The uses of Skills will be further expanded compared with last time.
- There will not be a Grail Blessing like last event but we will try to find a decent replacement.
- The Town who does the least damage will loose one random field upgrade!
- Again all Seekers will be able to find rewards during the Event, unaffected of the amount of damage.
- The best fighters will receive a special reward.
- The event will start 11th of March (after the rest).
- The event will last until 20th of March (until the reset).

Dear Seekers,

Here is some additional information that might help further defeating the Winter Demons!

+ Attacking the Winter Demons
- There always is a slight chance on a Critical Miss, this is not influenced by any skill.
- Base Damage: Agility Skill + Speed Skill + Strength Skill + Primary Skill Right handed weapon + Primary Skill Left handed weapon + Secondary Skill Right handed weapon*0.5 + Secondary Skill Left handed weapon*0.5 + Damage of Weapons.
- Follower Damage: see below.
- Grail Blessing: Base Damage + Base Damage * Grail Blessing * 0.01.
- Critical Strike: Each point has 0.25% chance to double your base damage each turn.

+ Receiving Damage
- The damage gained usually is between 2 and 10 damage each turn.
- Physical Resistance Skill: Each point has 0.25% chance to receive 0 damage each turn.
- Dodging Skill: Each point has 0.25% chance to receive 0 damage each turn.
- Being Drunk: The more drunk you are when fighting, the higher the chance to receive 0 damage (max 25% chance).

+ Followers that attack
- Warhorse: 50% chance to attack each time. Does between 1 and 4 damage.
- Bandalf the Wise: 50% chance to attack each time. Does between 5 and 10 damage (special for newbies).
- Free Company Soldier: 50% chance to attack each time. Does between 3 and 5 damage.
- Brute Mercenary: 50% chance to attack each time. Does between 2 and 6 damage.

+ Rewards that can be found when attacking
- Small chance to find a piece of equipment, including rare and exceptional armors.
- Small chance to find tools, potions of random quality.
- Chance to find mushrooms (food ingredient that increases Speed. Can't be found in-game itself yet).
- Chance to find Coal.
- Chance to find Grail Tokens.
- Chance to earn between 10 and 20 bronze.
- Chance to increase Grail Blessing (each Citizen can only find this Blessing once during the event).

+ Grail Blessing
- The costs to increase the Grail Blessing depend on the Grail Blessings bought already.
- Found Blessings have no effect on the price of the Blessing.
- Base cost of the Blessing is 5 Grail Tokens (instead of 10 like last time).

+ End prizes
- The top 2 players of each town will receive a price. So 2 winners in Camaar and 2 winners in Spero.
- The players will compete against their fellow citizens in this event.
- The town with least damage will lose a random field upgrade.

If you have further questions, suggestions or remarks, please let us know Smile

This is even worse than last time, Spero is is ahead by 5 times more damage so far. Losing by a landslide was bad enough, but this time we'll also lose a field upgrade because of it. How many of these utterly unexciting events will we have to suffer through before you get that this is pointless? This is like pitting a child against a heavyweight boxer, it's not fair and it doesn't make for an exciting match.

Once we even up the score from the town games... Which ya guys have us beat by 160 weeks Razz

I suspect it'll be more fun/competitive when there's a third town opened up, relying on if some people from spero decide to move there.

Its also gonna hurt not having your strongest fighter not participating... Looked it up and saw he's on vacation. Not saying he could close the gap himself tho

I do agree that being punished for losing is a bit harsh.

I also don't like how rewards are being consolidated for the best players each time these events happen, which just end up giving us more gear to make us even more powerful than everybody else. I believe having a random chance to find unique or rare gear with each attack would have been better than giving them out to the top 2 of each town.

I really like this kind of event, and I think it brings people together co-operatively in a way that they don't usually. I accept the point that the disparity is so wide that it is almost not worth Camaar participating, and I guess that is a problem.

I also agree with the viewpoint that everyone knows Apoclypze will be #1 and he will receive a buff that will make him even more powerful. I'm not sure making rewards random is the answer though - as there also needs to be an incentive for players to specialise and to reap the rewards of that specialisation. Perhaps damage received could scale off damage done, as that would typically reduce the number of attacks a high-damage player could make and *might* level the results slightly, although willingness and ability to invest in healing potions would still be a big factor.

My comment is that if we want to encourage co-operation, where are the rewards for the healers?

I think an Event should be even for all Players, not the rich will get richer...
The key to it is probably scaling Monsters, which means to put Monsters in 4 or 5 Categories from weak to very strong, with receiving more damage from Category to Category.
And according to the Player Lvl you just meet a certain Category(same counting for each Category). And to top this, noone should use or buy Stam Pots or Heal Pots above cheap Lvl to make sure all the rich Player wont outbuy the others(also a max buy per day). Also the Categories should need different Stam to "meet the monster",the lowest need 10 stam the highest about 25 or so,cause the high players also have high rates of regen stamina.
That would fit somehow the "we are all even" Idea in an event, what you think?

I was thinking that the event should increase the winning sides random field and not destroy any on the losing side.

As for the event I focus on combat but it doesn't really give me all that much of a leap ahead. I may have spent years on combat but I also spent the first year getting my herbalist and alchemy to 100%. I was making a bunch of potions to get funds for equipment (started the event with 4 silver total). By the time the event was announced I already had 20 master health potions stocked and various other potions. They are the key to getting points. A health potion and a stamina potion can get you from low ranks to the top. Strength potions boost damage which works great. I don't really use any others but my strategy revolves around potions.

yep, potions are key.

in the end the event is a big money sink, which is good. people spending lots of money and consuming lots of stuff helps the overall game economy.

you both are right that pots are the key,so everyone who had stocked on grail stam and health pots will be top?
nope ....,or lets say not for 1 day
on the first day i used all i had, 3 grail stam and 2 grail health pots, got drunk and skilled my char for optimal damage according to my skills, and i had NO CHANCE at all,and i am a lvl 13 fighter.(for example apo had 11k dam done i had 5 k)
its like always...people who are here longer have surly better stats and money and therefore will lead,no matter what.(points to my thoughts above for an event)
and to decrease a losing side is not a good idea,it disapoints peopleand this should be the last thing we should do here

These events really do favor the strongest and most resourceful characters. But that's cause they're fighting events, its what you'd expect. Of course the most renowned and merited, as well as fastest, strongest, and most agile, warriors will be at the top if they participate.

Yes, lvl 13 combat is pretty good, but apoc is lvl 20. I'd wager that its much more difficult to go from lvl 13-20 than it is to go from 1-13. He's also an alchemist, which helps a lot for these events. Anto, apoc, and I lead the charts, and apoc is the youngest of us. Yet none of us are in the top 5 oldest players (granted we are each pretty old:P)

Potions really are key, since your stats attribute so much damage in the events. It might be a little OP but this also gives younger players more of a chance to prepare and make an impact, of course older players will do that too.

But yeah, in short, fighting events should favor developed characters more, there could be other events for more creative things, and these ones could be less often done.

I too would like to a more fair fighting event for towns. To keep it fair and still competitive. For example with this event, there could be a threshold of damage each town has to do to keep their fields from degrading, let's say 50k. So if spero gets 200k and camaar gets 50k, no one loses a field. But then keep a prizes for contributing damage, could be money, potions, etc., and split the prize for each town by the % of the total damage done... So spero would get 80% of the prize and camaar would get 20. Or even give prizes on damage done after the threshold, so in this scenario, spero would get 100% of the prize.

one thing you might have overlooked Aro, is protection. armor isn't on the list, for protection value, only resistance.

18th of Mar 2015 23:09Axel Ackland has bought your Grand Master Healing Potion with a durability of 500/500 for 2 Silver and 85 Bronze.

Seriously? I don't mind you poaching our potions normally, but right now, that's just... low.

Unlike last time, this time I'm using some of my potions myself, because my goal is to be in the top 20, but I've also sold some, so that our better fighters could make use of them. Guess that was a bad idea.

Lol well I mean spero is on a clear road to victory. The only competition is between apoc, anto, and I over first place.

I'm also stuck in camaar right now, thanks to the buggy combat I don't want to risk fighting the guard... And most of the potions I could use are in the town's warehouse that I can't access without being in spero.
