Re: Town Elections
Every time I try to start a poll, I think it shows for a day and then it goes away... So still not working right now.

Re: Town Elections
Town Elections have been updated again.
Starting a poll as a citizen costs now 100 stamina. This forces the people to invest something in making a change around. We chose for stamina as this is something everybody can give, no matter your financial status in the realm.
In addition a anonymous letter gets sent to all the citizens of the town informing them about the poll.
It still is uncertain if there is a bug in the script and where exactly the bug strikes, but we keep hunting!

Re: Town Elections
The link (http://thegraillords.net/town/elections) in the daily tasks for voting for a new town council doesn't lead anywhere
The link through the great hall does work (http://thegraillords.net/town/elections.php)

Axel Ackland wrote:For the poll to be valid a certain amount of eligible voters have to have voted, right? Would it be possible to have a list of eligible voters made available to everyone in the town hall, or at least the total amount of voters?
Also for the poll... could there be a cost to start the poll for any player? I saw that the amount of time between polls changed from 7 to 3 days, which is fine, but now everytime I look at the town hall there's always a poll going on I was thinking if there was a cost to begin a new poll that the one guy that keeps asking for another election might wait a little while longer before trying again a week after having a poll with 11/14 in favor of no elections. The cost could be for setup and administrative fees, like 10 silver... half the cost could be waste, the other half could go to town administrators... ahh such as myself... for their services.
That is a ridiculously blatant try not get any polls. Perhaps you are nervous because of how close those polls are, then do a better job.
A week for candidates to join the race and a week to vote seems fine. Responding to the person who wanted less voting time, consider that candidates should have time to debate, to discuss with voters and each other publicly so that people can actually make an educated choice of things. Such as IF they want to even vote, WHO they consider best could change as more policies and views are explained, and even strategy for not getting someone completely opposed to their views elected. WHich is why we like having viewable up to date results.

Re: Town Elections
Having constant, meaningless polls is an annoyance. And having the polls cost nothing means one player can just keep polls constantly going, all the time.
Even just costing 5 silver would be fine. Just enough to keep people from pushing that button for no reason.

Re: Town Elections
The Elections are still bugged and before Monday there will be little changes in that sadly. That said, creating polls comes now with a cost. The Seeker who wants to start a new Poll requesting town elections has to come up with 100 stamina to get started.
Re: Town Elections
Brian, the thing is, I think its really pointless that someone would start another poll the day after a poll ended and there was resounding support Like I said, the only legitimate poll we had it ended with 11 out of 14 in favor of having no elections. Why would anyone try to start another poll the day after I had 78% approval from those that voted in the poll? No one would cause it should be a waste, but someone did because there is no waste involved. If I'm worried about anything, its that citizens will be so bored with the polls that they won't want to even be involved and not vote at all.
Now regarding the 100 stamina to start it, that's all fine and dandy, but personally I've always liked to see the game take a realistic approach to IG functions. I mean, I always assumed that polls/elections were the responsibility of the town to produce, because the town has the ability to spread around news of both, IRL at least. I'd much rather see a monetary cost that goes towards the money the town should have to waste on a poll or election, sending out letters or whatever, rather than just an amount of stamina.

Re: Town Elections
Maybe I am blind but would it be possible to see the results of the call for elections once it is over? I would be interested in knowing how many people decided to vote, and how much there were in favour and against new elections. (Of course further steps might be similar interesting like who decided to run for a certain election and how many votes each candidate got, but so far I have mostly seen elections end in the pre-phase ^^)

Re: Town Elections
The results are not visual, so nothing wrong with your pretty eyes.
I'll see to it that the results of the poll (and eventually elections) are shown in the Hall.
Its on my list!

Re: Town Elections
Just another suggestion... but it could be better to receive an event about it as well!

Re: Town Elections
The town gets this as an event to keep record for a limited time:
13th of Sep 14 21:00:The mayority of the people are pleased with the current council!
16 out of the 26 votes where in favour of the Town Council.
Which by the way Aro, there's a couple typos... majority* and were*
This is like the second or third legitimate poll we've had, the others were bugged. There hasn't been an election since the structure of it changed. Drew and I were each elected when both towns could vote in the other's election.
Idk if polls should be recorded cause I could see it getting cluttered, but election records would be cool.
